Sled keeps on shutting down!!

It got late last night didn't get a chance to try it. We will give it a try today. Fingers crossed!

I'm jealous you have snow to try it out.... Good luck brother! Merry Christmas!

Well it looked good for about 2 hours. Thought we had it licked. but it stalled!!!!:die Dash was still on and tail and head lights were on when it stalled. Told my son to keep an eye on the dash and I would keep an eye on the lights. ECU is our next bet. Going to have to fight for that one with Cat.

On one of the other AC forums, a guy had a stalling issue when riding and turned out to be a valve in the fuel tank....is it a fuel stall/surge and not a electrical issue?

Do we have those smartvalves or are they just screened pickups? If we have smartvalves yes that is one place to look for sure. Any moisture in tank will shut them off.

I went over my son's paper work and the sled was reflashed. But it was happening before reflash. We went through the whole sled last night. Disconnected all connections and reconnected. Checked anti freeze level-good. Chain case level low so toped up. Engine oil too high. Sucked out almost 1/2 a litre to get it to the top of the site glass. Again thanks for all the input here. :sled2:

Just a friendly warning here. Careful on checking oil if the sleds been off for a long time. You not suppose to check it unless its been warmed up and then shut off. Then let it sit for 30 seconds but no longer then 90 seconds while you check the oil level. The oil level fluctuates quite a bit depending on when its checked causing overfill or under fill conditions .

It really doesn't feel like a fuel stall. There is no signs of fuel surge of bog. just shuts down.

Best you can do then is just start swapping parts one at a time. Intermittent problems are such a bugger. Mine the throttle Block or wiring inside was tough to get. Took months and finally I just replaced the dang thing and never died again. Never found what the bad part in there was. Must have had it apart 10 times. My dash would go out and it would not start till block was taken apart and put back together. Did it once about 1am and lost. Fun!

Well we are picking up the sled from the dealer later today. When I dropped it off at the dealer a few days ago I went through the diagnostics and when got to the fuel pump diagnostic we were down to 2 ohms. My Viper is always at 49-55. Glad I did it in front of the tech. They have changed the fuel pump. They took it for a long ride prior to changing the pump and it kept on stalling. After the pump change they road it for 2 hours and no stall. Fingers crossed.

Interesting, weak fuel pumps can cause engine failures (ask the mid 2000 Ski doo 1000cc guys)

I has that same issue on a Polaris 850XP quad. It would go find then just stop. Let it cool for a while and it would run again. I was sure it was electric and I guess in the end it sort of was. It was the fuel pump was not putting out enough pressure and would get hot and turn off again. Changed out the fuel pump/filter and never happened again.

Hope everything works out for you. Good luck brother! Let us know if that fixed it.

We just unloaded the sled. Went for a quick burp. All good. but not long enough. Going out Sunday. Will keep you posted.

Good of them to listen to you at dealer. A good tech is always willing to learn. Awesome find on your part. Hope that is the issue. I think when I make that gauge video we will go through and find the actual running specs of every function on there. Its in the manual but helps to have actual real world readings instead of a broad range. Well done!
