wheels
the wheels you are looking for use a 6205 bearing. i have ran these and fourth wheel in the rear since new on my rx 1 the fourth rear wheel will help with the racheting the some have had. as it holds the track on to the drivers better.

Tork, how much machining do I need to take off the holders?Tork said:If you have the right Pol wheek the diameter should fit fine, however the Pol and Doo wheel use a wider bearing. Thats Ok because the bearing will likely last longer.
2 options with the wider bearing, longer bolts or machine the holders.

It looks like Kimpex now has a direct replacement using the 6005 bearing. Don't know anyone who has tried them yet. kimpex.com, snow catalog, go to page 356, on the bottom.

Does this product work better than the Marginal snow kit?

I've got 500 miles on my pads now since I started this thread, and they seem to work real good. The sled freewheels off a tilted trailer. Hyfax wear is nil.

Could somebody post a pic. of some wear pads? I posted some questions about my track in another thread about clipping and/or cutting out the windows, I'm not sure exactly what wear pads are!?? A picture is worth a thousand words......
Thanks
Thanks
They're nothing but glorified carriage bolts with wider than normal heads. Here's the product:

And an old picture of them installed on my 1.5 inch Intense track....see the nuts on every closed window? Smooth side runs against the hyfax. (click the picture to enlarge). You can clearly see 6 of them in this pic.

Thanks, I added them to my favorites page. Do they really help that much? Is it a worthwhile mod? I'm not really concerned about top speed, but longer life is always better. I'm in the middle of studding my track now, so it would probably be a good time to do it!

Frankly, I don't know. 1,200 miles so far in some pretty crappy low snow conditions. It seems to freewheel nicely, and my hyfax shows what I would consider average wear. But I never ran this sled without them so I have no baseline to compare them to. For all I know they may be a total waste of money. But I THINK they help with hyfax wear and freewheeling at slower speeds.

Just used a 1 3/8 hole saw to port every closed window. We'll see how it works? Went out on the lake the other day on roughly 1" of snow before i poted it and lost quite a bit of Hyfax. My bad but had to see what it could do on a lake finally, no lakes in caribou that wewre safe!

01 SXR Long Track
I just posted this on the poor top end post. My track is fully clipped, very loose, I,m still tightening because it will ratchet in the right conditions and, limiter strap is pulled all the way up. My sliders were wearing at a rate of a set in 300 miles. I still have not tried the new set up. Well I put on 6 new idler wheels today, 5.375" in dia. with a 6205 bearing. They are made by Sport Parts In. part # 04-116-88. Any aftermarket supplier should be able to supply them and they cost $13.00 Can ea. Royal Distributing has them on pg. 175 same part # and the circlip #04-116-100, bearing #04-1560R pg 181 $6.95, Thats for the good blue seal brg. The bearing is offset fom the center and if the wheels are put on backwards there is no machining req'd. The middle idler wheel bolt is a little to short because of the thicker bearing to self lock so I locktited mine on, or you can get a slightly longer bolt. The stock wheel is 5.25" and the Ski doo wheel is 135mm or 5.32" So this wheel is approx 3/16" larger than stock and will push the track down half of that 3/32", I don't think that there will be an issue with twisting the rails. I'm still runing the stock slidders with a loose track and the limiter strap all the way up. Hope this works. Do they make a set of wheels for the front of the rails and between the back 2 sets of idlers? I will post again after I ride next which won't be for a while as I have to drive to Quebec to pick up my buddy that we left down that way last week. !5 hrs driving one way. Long winded EH!!! Canadian EH!!!
