I hated my X2's because of the hard steering so I am going to try Slydogs which seem to be the lightest steering single carbide ski on the market?

Should I go with the race or trail skis? I ride a lot of miles hard and am not sure if the race skis are necessary. It looks like they are the same skis but the race skis are stronger?

Hopefuly I can get light steering so I can tighten my limiter strap and bring my ski lift down some.

I bought the RACE ski...I guess they're thicker and more heavier duty. More like a C&A thick, tuff and durable. Other than that the trail and race ski are the same.

All I know is that I gotta let some PSI out and tighten my limiter straps...this APEX is a beast!

How is the steering effort and darting?

I have the trails on order from ulmer racing allen told me that the race skis are overkill for the trail rider!! i dont plan on smashing my skis into anything!!

I ended up ordering the Race version today because of the amount of miles I put on a year. It is what Slydog personally recommended to me.

Thanks for the great deal Kyle at KJ Motorsports!

To each his own!! These skis sound like they will be a big improvement over stock!! time will tell

I think choosing the Race version was a wise decision. My skis suffered quite a bit of wear last year and a thicker ski offers some extra piece of mind.

Added Race skis to my attak last week, lowered the A-arms the week before. Handling much improved, very little darting (even though they are not shimmed). They steer much easier than the stock skis & sled seems to actually run smoother than it did with stock skis. The more agressive I take to corners the easier they steer & the better they corner. Have the the 7.5" shaper bars on them.

I have had the powderhounds on my attak for the last two years, and love them.... on the trail they handle just like the regular skis, and off trail they float really well! and you have to love the unlimited color combos

I chose the Race Skis as eventually we all are going to hit things we "don't plan on"! I did take a bit of a gouge out of one last season. Drove in 2 feet of powder & they are a HUGE improvement over stock. Cornered easily simply by weight shiting & the floatation they provide is much better than stock. IMO.

I have a set of Slydog trail skis on my sled for the preseason. My new sled cover slips over the skis and stretches back over the seat. The cover is so tight that when I took it off, my Slydogs ski tips were twisted inwards quite severely as if it were toed in 6 inches! It looked pretty weird. Once the cover was off for a while, the skis did straighten out though. Like I said, I think the Race version were a smart decision.

Hey guys,

I bought Slydog Race Skis and am having a hard time with these things. I know I must be doing something wrong, because I hear so much good stuff about these. But the way Im riding now, they absolutely suck! My sled pushes like a mother...if I dont come to a stop or close to it and then put a lot of weight in that direction my sled will just push straight!!

I have 6" carbides...does the carbide really make a huge difference on powdery trails?

I also bought the Ski Savers from Ulmer.

I have the shocks at 60psi...and dont want to go any lower...I ride rough and any lower it will bottom out or come too close to it! I have the limiter straps up one hole.

If anyone has any advice Id love to hear it!! Im almost thinking I should of bought C&A's : /

Slydogs do push. It is a trade off. You get the light steering but they push. Are you using Shaper bars that does seem to help. Have you shimmed the rubber for correct carbide contact and set the skis for toe in?

Mine pushed but yours sounds like it is more extreme. Also how much transfer do you have set for your rear skid?
