I've been in the same boat, trying to find the sled to smooth out the really rough trails. Unfortunately, there is no such sled out there to smooth out the two and three foot trail full of moguls. Especially from Yamaha. Finding a sled that is ergonomic for you, has a taller seat, and transitions you being able to stand up instantly with little effort, I think will be the best that you can do. IMO.

When properly sprung, valved, and containing a bottom out device, such Ohlins PDS or Fox BOC, the mono is exceptional at all of it.

I'm unaware of any factory snow cross sled useing a mono shock rear suspension

Not only will it take the 2 - 3' bumps, but the same skid will eat chatter all day. The falling rate requires that extra secondary piston damping for the final 1/3 of the travel. It's like hydraulic bump stop for a desert truck.

The original mono was designed 20 years back... for snocross.

Ya your right there that was the beginning of the end for the Yamaha Snow Cross team. They did fairly well with the pro action suspension they were running in the previous years with Chris Vincent even winning a championship. I'm not sure what year they actually changed but when they started useing the Viper hood instead of the SX that's when the down hill slide began. Eiter way I don't think grizzly101 is looking to buy a snow cross sled. If you have any video of a Apex on a snow cross track please share.

I do not, but do have thousands of suspension development trail miles with the BIG APE. The heavyweight will smash the end of the day whooped out trails, with a proper mono set up.... and still eat chatter. No BS. The shock conversions were just too expensive and probably a little late to the market.... the ship had sailed. I do understand you being hesitant on the what I say about the mono, I had a buddy buy an 06 Apex GT new.... absolutely horrible suspension set up.

I have a 2018 viper ltx dx and it’s very plush! Such a smooth riding sled and great for cruising. It will also take those 2-3’ moguls easily while standing up. I just sold my 2016’ rtx se with the fox qs3 shocks, and that sled could really eat bumps! Pro cross chassis is mint! Good shocks and a good chassis combined is mint!

I'm talking from experience I owned 3 Apex an 2006 RTX, 2008 Anniversary Addition, and a 2011 SE. I was not really impressed with any of them the 2006 being the worst one.

Apex is not a ditch banger, its a groom trail cruiser, the xtx can handle and bridge some nice bumps when suspension is set up for it but not like what's in the new sleds today, Ski Doo with their R-Motion is about the best in the business with Polaris on their heels, pro cross has some good reviews also but is getting old, we may see something new this year from Cat.

I finally put the updated shock on my Wife’s Vector Singleshot. Thanks Travis for the good deal. I am very impressed. Not as good as the M10 on my old Cat. But very close. I think Hygears Singleshot solution might give you the smoothest Japan built ride. Thanks for posting the Monoshock testing video. I believe that was filmed in Hill City MN. At the former Quadna Mountain Ski resort. Many factory teams practice there. 46 miles north of me. I am sure the Procross sleds are even better. But I would rather have the reliability of the Apexes and Vectors.

I also have the updated shock on my Apex, and it sure has alot more adjustability to dial in for a better ride for sure, alot better than the stock one it came with, I agree on the reliability of the Apex and Vectors, the 16 vector xtx is a really nice sled.
