Snowtrackers

where does the long plastic strip go? Does this go on first? What is its function?

With each runner/plate combo I also recieved a long wide plastic strip about 1/8" thick and about 2" wide. It is quite a bit longer than the plate.

That piece would go between the runner and the steel plate,, it is a teflon ? plastic for less resistance on the snow. I am very curious as to what kind you got? The older stles had(have them, but the ones i put on my yammi don't have the plastic Do yours look look this ?

The ones currently sold at Royal Distributing are the 3 blade. The new ones this year are 5 blade (two extra shorter fins at the back)

I think I want the new ones ????

I too was going to buy a new pair from the distributor in Canada but by the time I figured the total cost for the aggressive pair I was @ $277 with shipping and custom and thats w/o any tax as I live in NH. Too pricey for me, bought Simmon's Flex skis for about $100 more. Figure you get an awesome new ski that doesn't dart and floats way better than standard ski w/ trackers. Corners real well also.

FYI - I bought a used apex with snow trackers on them but haven't tried them yet. They have the plastic strip, I think they are called skin saver or somethin like that, must be the older version. Anyway, side steel channels all worn down so not sure they'll work on the darting, heard they wear down real fast.

Also was at the dealer yesterday and they had a new carbide with a metal flat bar for yami skis, suppose to stop darting. Forgot the name but it was somthing like "cosmo". You might want to check with your dealer, they were about $160.

Good Luck,

I bought the semi aggressive set. Instructions are included but they aren't very clear as to where the plastic strip goes. Makes sense that it would go between the runner and plate to reduce resistence. The strip looks more like plastic not teflon. I would have taken a picture of it and posted it here but my sled stuff is buried behind all of our house contents in my parent garage (wife and I sold our house).

I got hooked on SNOW TRACKERS in 2003 when my RXI handled like a piece of S%$# .Best money I ever spent!!! Like a new machine!!! My sledding buddies run hard and i'm usually pushing them with my heavy APEX GT. We have 3 sleds in my family and we all use SNOW TRACKERS. They last longer by far than other carbides, well worth the extra money. 118 on radar with them on. ;)! :-o

Bought the 5 blade ones form the guy in Canada.

Got back from 1225 miles in Northern Maine

all I have to say is....

THESE THINGS WORK AS ADVERTISED!!!!!!!!!!!

Put the limiter strap back to the stock hole
Set the toe at 0
Removed the 12mm sway bar
Removed the shims from the skis

Steering problems solved.

Moose, I am from Ct also and I ride in Northern Maine. I am trying to get up for some riding AFTER the winter vacation is over. The guys I ride with are saving their days off for a trip in march to the Gaspe. I want to ride in the county in Feb. after the winter vacation is over. I am trying to find some guys to ride with.

Sorry..
Only 1 trip this winter. Usually go the last week of Jan and the last week of Feb.

Hit me up next year if you want. The more the better. Would be nice to have another Yamaha on my side.

But plan more trips to Vermont this year. mabey going this weekend depending on the outcome of the storm. Kinds scratchy in the fields from last weeks thaw... Friend rode in St. Johnsbury last weekend.

Do you ride Quads? ... Going up twice this summer. Plus ride in CT and Mass. always looking to ride with someone.

See a short Video of the last trip

I got arrow skis, tried a demo of semi extremes did not dart at all, but pushed a little more in corners... will try the extremes to see if they are better than the arrow skis.. would keep arrow skis when not much snow cover, and go to snowtracker on stock skis in mid-winter..

had them on two other machines and they worked...

The extreme's do not have the plastic strip and the metal defuser on the extreme's only have fin's on the front of the ski with a metal plate that runs the length of the wear bar. I have the aggressive's on my son's Phazer and the extreme's on my Attak. I wish i had gotten the extreme's for the Phazer as well. They do not track at all but the extreme's bite better. kviper

I've got an older set of Sno Trackers and they do stop the darting but mine push in the corners. Went to Simmons flexi-skis and really like them on my Yammis. Snow Trackers have really gone up in price over the last couple of years so for me i'd rather spend a little more and get a great ski and ditch the stock ones. Just my opinion of course.

keep in mind that snowtrackers are expensive,but... they last 2 to 3 times longer than all the other ones,so not that expensive if you think about it,just my 2 cents,i have them and love them.
