Just for laughs, I took a look at A/C's website to take in the lies they spew. I came across this:

http://www.arcticcat.com/snowmobiles/t6 ... 660_MY.pdf

There is one thing in there that REALLY is nagging at me. It says 1/4 mile SXVenom 77.0 mph. Now here's the thing.... Back in December, I was playing with a radar gun and a 98 VMax 600-XTC - BONE STOCK - and in 1/4 mile it was reading 92 mph. The same gun on the same day, minutes apart, was giving me 109 on RX1 in the same distance, and 112 in 1/2 mile. WTF gives? Venom couldn't possibly be that much slower, could it?

How can any Yamaha guy accuse any manufacturer of over hyping a sled, that said what was mis-leading about their piece? If you don't like the ets talk to Yamaha oh I forgot the shootout was all a conspiracy by Cat and the Yamaha dealer that set up the Yamahas.

Those were the American Snowmobiler figures. In the full article they said they couldn't understand why the Venom was running so badly, as previous tests of the same motor have given much better results.

LB,

My underwear is Yamaha blue so I admit to my bias.

That being said I believe the difference must be in the 2 track conditions.
I dont think they were good at the Shootout this year.

I owned 2 1999 Yamaha 600 Deluxes and I can tell you they are no where close to an F6 which had the same speed 1/4 mile as your XTC 600.
Gotta be track conditions or a difference in the Radar units.

My 700 Deluxe would beat my 600 Deluxes hands down.

I took a Demo F6 out last spring and absolutely destroyed my friend riding my 700 in several 1/4 mile races and he owes me 80 lbs.

Sooooo, as much as I am a Yamaha man, I am afraid to admit that although Big Moose seems to know a lot more about setting up Cats than Yamahas, that there is no doubt in my mind that an F6 will destroy a 600 Riceburner in a drag race.

That being said I will still buy the Yamaha because I will destroy another old guy in the tight and twisties on a groomed trail riding an F6 if he doesnt have it in the shop being repaired.

F-Cats are very fast for short distances. Riceburners are a little slower but
dont have much down time.

I guess that is enuff bias with a little bashing thrown in for good measure.

They specify "out of the box" in the artical. Maybe Cat's marketing people literally took the Yam, Pol and Doo right out of the shipping crates (ie. no dealer set up). This could explain these speeds, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is what was done.
btw, I would bet any money on either Polaris OR the SkiDoo winning an apples to apples race against the Cat

Cat wins 700 and 800 with F7
Cat wins 600 with F6
Cat wins 500 with F5

Now what class are the others going to win :?: :?: :?:

Just talking about speed here in response to the last post.

Jim

The Ski Doos are winning the ice drags here.

The cats are winning the race to the repair shop.
