We just reassembled a sidewinder chaincase and after firing up on stand it is showing a really low Speedo reading. Prob showing 3 to 5 mph instead of 20 to 40 or more track was turning? I looked at sensor it doesn’t appear to have moved? Other posts that symptom seems to be too high of a reading not too low.
While sled was apart it had a stock muffler max 16 tune put in it as well if that could be part of the problem.
Any input would be greatly appreciated guys.

Happy New Years to all

If its not the speedo sensor on the chaincase cover it may be that some magnets fell out of the speedo sending plug at the end of the drive shaft...it should have 8 magnets.

It was an oversight not inspecting new parts well enough. I gather the cat 600 that the new axle was destined for has a different number of magnets to trigger the speedometer than a sidewinder has. The axle only had two instead of all eight. Pickup must be programmed differently than our 4 strokes. Lesson learned i guess.
