Speeds of boosted sleds

Hey silversufer, CPR was selling brand new apexs with turbos intalled for 14900. Stage one 8-12 lbs boost, pump fuel on low boost, race fuel on high boost. Plus add 1000 for guages if you decide you want them.

Or pick up a 06 or 07 apex/attak for 6000 and put a stage 1 whatever brand turbo for 5000-6000, and run 280 hp 130mph.

boost is addicting though you gets some then you want more.

Just my two cents I was in the same position as you last year before I got my CPR Turbo. Now thinking of going to stage 2.

srxguy - nope!

NOS - watched the video. Very cool! Nice ride!

aja - Yeah, I know he was, but not in the market now. Wish I was, those would be choice.
What I'll probably wind up doing is getting a model year '09 in calendar year '10 or '11 and definitely sticking with a stage 1 - again, don't want to have to worry about finding race fuel all the time. I assume it's not that convenient...but who knows, I intend to rent a sled and go on a TY ride next year, so maybe someone's turbo sled will change my mind. ;)!

Was looking for top WOT speeds on a Vector, Nytro, or even Phazer, actually...don't need big iron (yet), want something that is nimble and totally sleeper-type. Vector or Nytro turboed is going to run down 90% of sleds anyway, I wanted to know if they were capable of 115-120 (or more) on gps. Then again, a Vector weighs the same as an Apex. Decisions, decisions. :tg:

Thanks for the responses so far...

Oh, another question...do you have to run race fuel on the Stage 2's? Can you turn the boost down?

Race fuel on stage 2 on high boost and pump on low 11-12 if you have pistons/headshim/stacked gaskets. A nice set up would be a 08/09 vector with a stage 1. But those are still carbed sleds. The nytro is nice to and Powderlites has a nice set up for them. EFI is just so nice. But if your looking for a trail set up Look at the Superchargers also. My dad has one and it is more fun to ride on the trails then a turbo. Just feels like its more amped up at lower RPMs then a turbo. But for go fast speed, can't beat a turbo.
Good luck with your decisions. They are hard to figure which direction to go.

Yeah, that's the other thing I don't want to do - replace the pistons/rods whatever. As crazy as I'd get with that is a thicker head gasket.

Vector is carbed? meh, I would like efi. And again, if I was going to get something that heavy, then might as well get an Apex.

Unless someone wants to tell me that a 140 Phazer will do 115 gps, I can pretty much rule that out too. So basically, that leaves me with a Nytro, unless the Apex drops another 30 lbs or so - I just do not like the idea of a 560 lb sled.

Will a stage 1 Nytro do 120?

How hard is it to get 110 octane around Tug Hill?

110 octane in tug hill only if you bring it from Nj, We bring up a 55 gallon drum of 110 with us and leave it in the trailer.

you would have to speak more with Dave @ powderlites or find someone with a Nytro turbo to see what speeds power they are doing. I would believe they can get that speed with 200-240 HP out of a stage 1.

Ugh. Well that's cool though, I imagine that lasts for a good weekend or more.

Yeah, I think that's why no one has answered yet - it's not like everyone has one, and I would bet most of those that do are mtn riders.

How 'bout it Dave (or anyone)?

Correct me if I'm wrong but top speed is only affected by gearing right? It's the HP that determines how fast you get there. I normally ride the mountains so top speed is not my focus. I did my maiden lake voyage a couple of weeks ago and damn! My RX-1 was moving. Does anybody know the top speed an RX-1 with stock gearing can acheive?

Gearing in a stock RX is good for about 120 real MPH. Proper gearing and clutching and you can get over 140 MPH on snow, 150+ on ice.
