Diehard BRP rider wants to go BLUE mainly because of the 4 stroke benefits. Tired of smelling like a chain saw and rebuilding my BLOWTAX every year.
On a more serious note I need you guys to help me make a decision. I ride all groomed trails and consider myself a fairly aggresive rider and love the twisties and the ability to rail in the corners. I dont go off trail and not really into top end much and not a ditch/jump kinda rider either, but I definately dont want a sled that doesn't feel @ home in the corners.
I can adapt very well to different chassis styles given a couple hours of seat time and am not afraid to tinker with adjustments or valve shocks or etc..??? My current sled is a ZXchassis '99 mxz600 (read lots of body english in the corners) and Im really looking forward to a more standup or rider forward position, and hopefully less body english to keep the skiis on the snow. Never made it to a REV simply because of the ROTAX never was very reliable for me,although I have 20,000 kms on it 4 cranks later haha...
I rode my brothers 03 XC800 and was quite impressed with the stability of this sled it wants to stay quite planted which I like. But can't go there.I love the SE race tunnel look and a lot of other things about this sled but I dont want to have to spend a thousand bucks to get it to handle. tell me I can make this sled work for me and be happy with the 15,000 dollars I have to shell out,or knock me on the head and point me another way.
Thanks for your honest replies. Love this board.

I'm not sure the Nytro RTX SE is what you really want. The SE is designed for guys that like to beat the hell out of their sleds. If you have huge moguls and like to jump in the dtitchs, then I'd say buy it. But seeing your from Canada, and your used to riding flat trails that maybe at the most turn to stutter bumps on the weekend, I'd say either the XTX or the RTX models. Either one would handle the kind of riding you like to do. Just my opinion.
Your not gonna have to put that much or if any money into a 2009 Nytro. With the totally changed front end, you'll be cornering on rails.

if you are looking for a sled that you can just get on and ride and rail the corners i would suggest an apex. the sled is very stable and easy to ride, you will have very few adjustments that would have to be made. i love the apex for a good trail ride and even very aggresive trail ride.

Welcome to the site. Please put your location, the mods will ask, site rules.
Now with that out of the way: you're obviously a Canadian rider. With the massive, wide trails you have up there I'm curious - why not an Apex? Better range than the Nytro, motor is completely bullet-proof, tons of power for those WOT runs. Many members on this site have theirs set up to truly rail.
Depending on your size you may want the shock revalved and/or a big-boy spring; many people here like aftermarket skis as well. But $1000 to get it set up? No.
Like all first-year sleds, the '08 Nytro did have some teething pains; some riders could never got it set up and are furious, some did and have no problems. Hopefully, the geometry and front-end changes they made will make that all a thing of the past, however. And if you want a bigger tank, supposedly the TrailTank is getting good reviews.
Do some searches in the Apex and Nytro section; this question gets answered all the time. Either way, you won't regret your choice to go blue!
Good luck!

Never thought of the Apex. Is there a lot difference in weight verses the 09 Nytro? Are the 09 RTX models coming with the race tunnel?

Its too bad that snowmobile companies require you to spring order a machine that you have never ridden if you want to buy it. There should be more opportunity to ride it before you buy it. $15000 is a lot of money, especially if you wind up buying something that isn't suited to your needs.
Not all the trails in Canada are straight, flat and without bumps either...haha

I personally think way too much is being made of the so called handling deficiencies of the Nytro. I've got mine dialed in and feel totally comfortable on it. I also have an '02 ZX 440 and there is a huge difference between it and the Nytro. I feel more confident running through the bumps and corners on my Nytro than the Zx. If you are happy with the ride of your 600, I'd recommend getting the standard Nytro over the SE. If you like to bash bumps then get the SE.
Also, if you are primarily running groomed trails and not deep snow, I think the deep tunnel on the standard Nytro is more comfortable and better suited for your purpose. It is not the best design for off trail, deep snow, but I like that your butt doesn't get raised higher in the air when you move your feet further back on the tunnel. It is also pretty comfortable on long rides since your legs can stretch out more than you can with a tapered tunnel.
