Does anyone else get the annoying steady squealing noise at moderate throttle. When I'm just cruising I can hear this steady squeal. Not really a belt squeal but similar and could be. When I'm into the throttle good I don't hear it but holding it steady I do. It's almost like a quieter version of the sound the sled makes when the engine is braking. Sled seems to operate fine but it's very irritating.

I do not get any squealing unless I let off the throttle, no brake. You sure your belt is not slipping? There is always a droning sound from the skid as well.
I live in New Hartford/Chadwicks. You are close by. Let me knw if you want to get together for a ride. I have an 07 fx...so far so good.

Probably reduction gear whine. Mine makes a real racket.
Was thinking that too
Is it normal for the reduction gear to be making that noise? Is something going to let loose. I remember reading about reduction gears going south.

For what its worth I was told if gear reduction makes 300mi it will last forever.Dealer said that was what Yamaha told him. Some here had bolts come loose on the cover. That would also cause a failure.

Did You Ever find The Noise
Just came across this posting. Just picked up a 2009 Venture Lite. I have 220 miles on this and it is doing exactly what you describe. Where you ever able to find out what the noise was coming from
It seems to "squeal" when just cruising, around 6500 - 7500 RPM. It is not the sound after hitting it hard and then totally letting off the throttle. That sound is well defined and sounds correct. Also this is not the same sound as going down a steep hill and letting off the gas, you get first the gear down sound and then if the hill is long, another higher pitched gear down, which sounds normal.

Listen for a tick tick before the squeal, Probably a bolt spinning not to mention a time bomb, My phazer has a new home because of it, Yamaha and 2 dealers said all is normal so I got rid of both of them for a 4 stroke skidoo that I can do my own oil change on.

sounds like a very similiar problem to my venture 2007 MP I read on another forum after doing a lot of searching on this problem is to re-seat the jackshaft bearing as it was never seated properely when the bearing heats up there is a side load on the bearing making a squeal at 30-50 kms

i had the same problem on my 08 venture MP. (anoying squeeling noise that started when you went about 30-50kmh) The dealer checked it out two or three times.so one night i tried to figure it out myself. i found out that it was one of the bearings in the gearbox that was seated wrong. i brought it down to the dealer and they replaced the bearing and seated it in right and i have never heard that noise again.
