Sr viper/procross chassis

i read thru HCS last night and i can't believe how problems like multiple belts blowing, clutches coming apart, chains breaking etc, etc, etc, are accepted and they have the balls to laugh at us (yamaha owners) about why we are questioning this merger. :o| :o| If my sled was like that i would dump it and go get another brand. that's the only way any company will listen to these types of problems, money talks. winter is way to short to be putting up with crap like that from a POS. i really don't care that my sled doesn't have 177hp but what i do care about is riding instead of being towed or sitting in a shop over and over again during a winter. My sled handles very well on the trails and i will put it up against any of the new AC's. one thing is for sure when i go riding i don't have to wonder if it will hold together for the day or even year after year.

I really hope the Viper is going to be a good sled ;)!

BTW the cat doesn't make 177hp once its nice and warm.....been there don't that...my apex will walk a warm stock 1100T

When you read through HCS or any other forum for that matter, it is the same five or ten people doing all the complaining. You may have read about the same blown belt 50 time because the same guy won't shut up. There are plenty of good ones to go with the bad otherwise none of the companies would still be producing snowmobiles. I have ridden with plenty of guys who have 2011 to 2013 cats with no issues at all. The real problem child was the 1100 turbo but the 1100 NA has had little to no issues, sounds like a horsepower problem to me.

i've read thru it and it's not the same guys over and over, .

Glad to hear your buddies sleds have been holding together thou.

horsepower + idiots = blown belts. doesn't matter the make/model. never blown a belt in all my life. ride my xtx like its stolen and got over 6000 miles out of the belt and slides, changed both, but didn't need it. I like to run it hard, but dont set out to destroy it

From what my Cat buddy's have told me, stock the Cat's need some mods for the belts to survive. Fortunately it is fixable with tuning and/or a different driven clutch like a Team. The Viper should have the issue solved from the factory.

Ok it's the same 5 guys ;)!

Man....maybe I will get the 1200 doo mxzx......I hope the viper doesn't do this I really liked the ride of it but not sure i want this to happen....but I could reroute the vent line

09nytro, ya it was only 5 :o| :o| Rightttt

Blu2U2, sorry to hear about your misfortune and good to hear no one got hurt, must have been scary for your little guy. i would have let the whole thing burn so you don't have to deal with the adjusters or the stealership. i know our first reaction is to put it out but it would save a lot of headaches.

good luck

Look, I'm not defending cat. There is a reason I don't own a new one. My point was there are a lot off good ones to go with with all the bad ones you read about on forums.

I'm just saying Yamacat21 it's a lot more then 5-10 guys that have belt /clutch problems on there AC, better read HCS again. I coudn't get the conection to work above but there are 14 pages and they filed with the BBB to get AC's attention.

not going to beat this horse anymore. believe what you want. :dead:

how many pages of sliders, overheating, darting, broken limiter straps hand warmers in yamaha nytro section????? lol
:jump:
:o| :die
:sled1:

Bottom line to all this bickering is that no matter who makes it, someone will break it! I sure hope you guys dont expect anyone to beloeve that you're just cruising up and down the lazy trail and stuff just breaks and falls apart, no matter what brand??
Fact is, we beat the snot out of these things, and you guys that are referring to all the issues of any sled are most likely guilty of more than a few days of hard riding, aren't you?
Sure, every maunufaturer has it's strong and weak points, but if you think you're going to have "0" issues with any sled with the way most of us ride, you're fooling yourselves.... I beat the h@!! out of my sleds, and sure, stuff breaks once in a while, but I also am vigilant about maintaining them to hopefully stay ahead of some of these issues.
In my opinion, as long as this Viper has some sort of history (and it does from both manufacturers) and there is info regarding what to watch for, I have no issues throwing a few upgrades at it if the overall sled will perform like I want it to?
I do know Yamaha has addressed certain issues with the sled and made changes for it's brand that the Cat likely wont get, and I can only believe that it will be a better sled than expected.
