I thought maybe Yamaha would eventually discontinue the Apex motor with the factory turbo now available but do you think the new AC/Yamaha chassis will accept the Apex engine? Dropping a 150 hp NA engine into this chassis to capture those consumers not wanting the 180+ hp turbo but needing more than what the Viper offers makes sense to me. I think most agree the delta box II chassis is outdated and will be discontinued in the near future so is there a future for the 4 cylinder NA engine in the SRV chassis?

I would love to see this 998 in a naturally aspirated version in it's 110-12 HP to go after the 900 Ace.
I think it would dominate that class and be an exceptional sled.
For the guys that are buying the Phazer for their wife or junior, it would be perfect.

Isn't the new chassis the same as the procross?
If that's the case I would expect it to be updated soon. Think of it this way, yami traded the 1050 for the procross. Now yami hands over a state of the art high end motor.
Maybe they're giving it to cat because it helps them sell more product. But, more than likely, they're going to be getting something back in return.
Doo is now changing their chassis to be more like the Axys. I would expect Cat to move in that direction as well.

The Viper with it's handling, ride and 130- HP engine is ideal for a wife. To many guys underestimate what their wife can handle. My wife rides both the Nytro and Viper without issue. Because there now is the option between the 130 HP engine in the Viper and the 190+ HP in the SideWinder. I'm seeing a need and a possible market for a NA, 150 HP engine in an Arctic Cat chassis to fill the gap and that motor is currently available in the Apex.

agree here...I would hope there is a new chassis on paper at least in TRF that is purpose built for the yammie triple to actually be mounted low in pan....After all the procross is really designed for 2cyl width engines IMO.

I agree, my wife loves her Viper, she got hers the year before I bought mine.
But there still are the guys that drive an Apex and put their wife on a Phazer, thats the market I'm talking about.

Agree with both. A high compression n/a version with 160ish hp (what I was waiting for, bought sidewinder
) then a detuned version at 110-115hp range to beat up on the 900ace motor. Yamaha has the best 4 strokes but because of the diverse spectrum of them skidoo claims that title. If you're gonna be a 4 stroke only business, you better be the best 4strokes. And offer what's out there.

They already have a N/A engine in that chassis, Viper?
Will they use the old 4 holer in that same chassis? No I do not see that.
Utilizing a non turbo version of the sidewinder? That is interesting..
Anything new? Yeah always needed unless you don't care to sell more of your product.

Yes I'm hoping for one chassis and one motor used for a series of sleds , The turbo charged motor is very advanced so it has no turbo lag and is expensive . I believe a Super charged motor in the three cylinder will be less complicated and cheaper to do. Then just a standard 3 cyl. around 110 hp for the beginner sled. If they spread the cost over 8 or 10 models they could keep the cost down. End of last year I could buy a Viper for under 10,000 brand new. If they don't do something they will price themselves right out of business !
