Turbotime & highpockets,

Please take a moment to update your profiles with your locations as this is a site requirement.

Thank you,

1CS, MrSled and mods - is it possible to make the location field mandatory when a person register, so that they get a warning if they have not completed all mandatory fields. just my 2 cents. Sorry for the hijack.

I am currently at 130 mains,1 3/4 turns on the air screw, needles in the middle clip(need to adj,VERY slight midrange lean) 300 pitot (didnt mess with that as I was so thrilled it actually ran ) I want to fine tune the needle, install the billet caps, and see what affect the pitot has when sled runs reasonably well.I also need to add some weight to the primary,I have a set of heelclickers I may try,any recommendations there ? Overall BIG difference as I said, not even the same sled !

It has been my experience that the pitot jet plays a big factor in how the sled will run. I agree with Spray25 that you can be too rich and the sled will pop and miss from being too rich and not rev up (been there). If you were running a 240 pitot you would have been extremely rich regardless of exhaust leaks. The turbo can overcome minor leaks in order to achieve 8lbs boost. It may not be the most responsive sled but it would still build the boost. I carry pitot jets from 400 to 1200 in 100 size increments (I made my own from 800 and up, just drilled them out, I think 700 is the biggest you can buy). In theory, you get your sled running its best without boost, when you find the correct jetting for your riding area. Then when you add boost the jetting should be correct and you adjust via the pitot jet. Personally I like the pitot jet featue it makes it extremely easy to adjust the fuel mixture.

OBTW, I'll give you two rides and you will be cranking up the boost. If you think 8lbs is bad wait until you ride 14-16lbs.

In my case,it may have been a combination of things as I had a number of problems which I believe contributed to the poor performance.Off boost, low rpm perf was poor as well,You could really outrun it with an Indy 440 ! I used almost 1/2 a tank of gas in a 27 mile ride,I would say thats a little rich as the 800s used about 1/4 tank.Although the Floats were set up correct, between the poor running and having to manipulate the throttle to get the sled to keep moving,it was obvious something was way wrong. I think as you said, getting my setup close with the 300 Pitot, will allow me some leeway to fine tune from there. Oh,and I am truly anxious to turn it up,I need to get used to it first as it is the first Yamaha I have owned !
