Rode for 2 and a half days up in the County of Maine. Followed Allen's recommendations and rpms were pretty much spot on. First day was in the mid 40s and only pulled 8600 but after the cold night trails were hard and fast really too hard had to keep going off trail to keep temps and slides cool. The trail across Long lake wasn't perfect but managed 127 on the Speedo and 123 GPS. This is with stock gearing. For the wide open trails up there the clutching was awesome great backshift and up shift rpms were right around 9000 to 9100 then settled to 8750 and slowly climbed to 9000. My son who's about 30 lbs lighter managed 129 on the speedo and 125 GPS. So I'm happy and wow doesn't this thing pull.
Mods TD powertrail with CAI and TD super quiet exhaust. On a side not my son on his 2011 Apex SE managed 120 on his speedo. He didn't have the GPS but testing before in similar conditions the speedometer was off 4 to 5mph. So I'd say 114 to 115 true speed. Numerous roll on races with my son just having fun also shows just how much power these sleds make. He was at around 110 and I could pass by slowly at 3/4 throttle nail it and I was gone....afraid to say unless long range forecast changes and we get some good storms the riding season other than maybe Millinocket north to the county isn't gonna last much longer. I hope I'm wrong.

Ah the county!! Sounds like you enjoyed.
I was up there for a 2 day ride fest the week prior. Trails were as good as they get, I did not want to leave.
That week, we had the trails to ourselves and everything was perfectly groomed, or freshly groomed and we were first making tracks all over the county.
Stayed in Presque Isle and rode all over the Crown of Maine. Cannot say enough about the great trail systems and the spectacular array of trails. Rail beds, power lines, expansive field trails with their double lane trails. It would be hard to pick a favorite ride spot, but let me try,
Caribou with their rail beds or their field trails or should I say roads...
Easton and Fort Fairfield, much the same always well groomed with no traffic.
Got lost in Mapleton purposely for an hour or so just chasing freshly groomed trails and being first laying down some tracks.
Let’s not forget Van Buren, Grand Isle, Madawaska, Sinclair, Washburn, New Sweden and more. All of these groomed trails just for us (it seemed like that because of the lack of sled traffic those 2 days.) Then returning to Presque Isle to find more freshly groomed trails, first on those again. Deja vous ! OK I tried but I just cannot choose, heck I cannot even narrow it down to a top 3.
But anyways, nice to hear about your speed runs on Long Lake. Lots of fun.
Fast speeds for a snow trail, about what my 245 tune can do,but on ice not snow!
Was on Hebron lake (Saturday 2/24)today, all ice with a skim coating of melting snow dust turned meal. Very fast there right now.

Hey sorry for hijacking your post about your Stage II Ulmer Clutching, and turning it into a County trail post. I got excited when I heard about your Long Lake fun and went in a different direction.
I do not have a like kit, but next year I probably will.

Hard packed snow and bumpy and not ideal for top speed runs having to let off and get back in it but was happy with the speeds I saw. I don't doubt I'd gain a few more mph on glare ice or even really hard packed snow but flat and smooth.
