Put on 190 miles on my new star kit yesterday and all I can say is wow what a difference! Weight transfer is awesome, no more harsh jarring over bumps, I would cringe and brace myself for the upcoming bump and the sled would soak it right up. Stutters are no longer and I mimic what others have said u need to watch it as the sled rides so much better you carry a lot more speed through the bumps and corners. Best investment yet!

Has anyone with tested this that has turbo?
I wonder if the ski's ever gonna touch the ground with that weight transfer.

can you adjust the weight transfer to keep the front planted so that you can throttle out of the corners? all i hear about us the great transfer but do the skis come up every time you get on it? not much good if you can't turn in the corners. i'm interested in this mod as well but don't want all that tranfer when trail riding.

You have to keep tightening the limiter strap till you get it where you want it. Ski lift is a bit of a problem for me but I will trade that for a much better ride. Nothings perfect.sgauthier said:can you adjust the weight transfer to keep the front planted so that you can throttle out of the corners? all i hear about us the great transfer but do the skis come up every time you get on it? not much good if you can't turn in the corners. i'm interested in this mod as well but don't want all that tranfer when trail riding.

My XTX with the star kit has less transfer than any mono apex I have had. I only put a few hundred kms on my XTX before the star kit and weight transfer was pathetic IMO and they come stock set up for full transfer. I run it with the limiter straps sucked in one hole and its awesome in the corners with the star kit, way better than the mono sleds I run with.

the star kit makes the skid very soft does it not? I had my shocks revalved softer for small bumps and its still not enough, so was thinking of the star kit. but now I am afraid with my shocks the way they are now added with the star kit would end up with too soft of a ride, what do you all think?

I would not say the star kit is soft, the front shock gets valved stiffer and uses a stronger spring. The star kit lets the skid use all its travel. In stock form the XTX has to much sag where the star kit sits full height. Bottoming is reduced also. I have over 4000kms on the kit now and no issues so far. Call star and talk to Robert, he can explain what the kit fixes.

well I would not be having them revalve my shocks after I just had them done, I guess I should have said that, I would just buy the kit and put it on and keep my shocks and springs as is.

I'm thinking of doing this change on my 2012 Apex XTX but have a few questions for anyone that's done this themselves and could possibly help...
Are there any tricks or important things to watch for to do this install?
Are the instructions from Star sufficient to do this without any problems?
From the instructions...and not sure why, but if the grease zerks on the slide block tubes are no longer used, do these now go dry and does that cause a problem?
Will doing this suspension mod void a YES Warranty for any reason?
Can I leave the skid in to do this... or even only drop the rear?
Anything else I should be aware of worth passing on?
Thanks for the help.

I did the install alone and it took 4 hrs. Front of the skid stayed in and just dropped the back down. The kit is 2 pieces, a pivot setup for the rear and a set of rails to replace the link on the front shock. The instructions were ok but not the best. Only 2 holes are drilled for the rear lower pivot point, make sure you have a 10mm bit.
I grease the tubes for the very reason you posted. As for warranty if the kit failed im sure you would be SOL if it damaged anything. Overall its not hard to install, just lay all the pieces out and take your time. Its a very well designed kit. I've pound on it and no issues.

Installed the Star kit 4300 miles ago. The only durability issue was a broken rear scissor bolt on the rail. I lost the wheel and block but was able to limp it to a shop to get repaired. Great improvement for the xtx. You will be able to ride faster through rough trails and big bumps don't bottom out as easy.

i did the same thing after 300 miles If you have the excel wheels you need to get a bolt 1/2" longer all good since best money ever spent!
