Hello,
I have a 2007 Phazer that won't turn over. It just clicks once when you turn the key. THe battery is testing strong. If I spin the primary a little, occasionally the start will SLOWLY start to turn over the engine. But that only worked a few times. Now, that doesn't work. Do I need to replace the starter? Or is there something I should check first? Looks like the starter install is a pain? Thanks.

Check that its not Solenoid by jumping the big wires at solenoid. Be careful. Use a screwdriver. If it still doesnt turn over then maybe the starter bolts sandwiching starter together loosened.

I would guess the starter took a dump. Seen lots of the go on a Nytros.

If the starter is at fault, take it out and check the bolts as per this post:

I would also take it apart and check that the magnets are still in place before doing the bolts. Another possibility is that the relay/solenoid got stuck and burned out the starter. I've had that happen twice and you don't even hear it. You can remove the starter without having to pull the front sub-frame by cutting off the unused bracket at the bottom of the engine.

Thank you. Let me check the easier ones first before I take off the entire front end.

Don't need to take the front end off. There is a tab on the bottom of the engine that does nothing, yet blocks starter removal. Cut it off.Thank you. Let me check the easier ones first before I take off the entire front end.

Same thing on my nitro last year. I can almost bet the starter is fired. Its starting to get noticed more and more every year now that these machines are getting older. My problem was the magnets broke off and spun in the casing and stopped the center of the starter. All it would do is click when I tried to start it.
