Last year had issue with starting that I believed was an old battery-would just click after being turned off. Bought a new battery and have the same issue. I have 12 volts at the starter and the rely appears to be working-fuses are good no increased resistants on the meter. I tapped on starter with a hammer an it rolled over. Turns over slowly and sounds like it is drawing a lot of juice from the battery. The question that I have is can I rebuild this starter? I am not really excited about buying a new one for $500.......Anyone else have this problem before or rebuilt one of these? I appreciate any advice/help!

Totally bumbed because I just got my new cobra track and wahl brothers anti-ratchets on it and haven't gotten to go for a ride yet!!!!

starter

Hello....i had the same problem with my 2006 Apex, the starter came apart inside causing to burn the relay after trying to start it many times,i found a used starter and all is good now.
You can find starters on Ebay or kijiji from Canada at approx $200,00

Had a similar issue

I had the same problem last year. Ends up the commutators on the starter let go from the epoxy (where the brushes ride on). When I turned the key everything seemed fine except it did not turn over. I think what was happening was the brush would get stuck on the loose copper tabs and the starter could not overcome this. Freaked quite a few buds out when I would pull off the side cover and wrapped a strap around the primary and give it a yank while holding the key in the start position. Started first pull every time! You might want to try this to see if its the same problem, or pull it out and bench test it. Ended up buying a new one from royal distributing for $200 and it works like a charm. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
