Still speechless

I'm with the OP here. Maybe worse. Because my loyalty left years ago. Funny thing is...I keep coming back here and checking. Sometimes its hard to permanently give up loyalty that you've had for 20+ years. But I am now going on year 7 of no Yamaha...and I can say that this Cat hybrid is BS. If I were to buy this "thing"...I would most certainly buy the Cat version of it. People bitch about the Cat problems....but this entire Viper option wouldn't even be available if Cat didn't actually invest and commit to a new platform. I just don't see how anyone would reward the company who brought their 5 year old engine to the dance vs the company who brought their blood, sweat, tears, and investment to the dance and made it all possible.

I don't know. I can understand that people love Yamaha. I used to love them as well. But defending this on behalf of Yamaha just pushes too many past their comfort zone...

kimoajaj,
By the way...off topic here...but I am working on/off in Europe for longer periods of time for the next couple of years. Staying in Dusseldorf when I'm here. Would love to come up to Norway and go for a ride with you Nordic boys!

If anyone quits riding due to spilled milk they were never a real sledder to begin with. The Viper will be the best handling sled in Yamahas stable next winter. A huge step forward. Cat has been ahead of Yamaha in the handling department pretty much forever. That chassis combined with the Nytro engine will haul the mail. If not for 2014 it will for sure in 2015 after whatever bugs it may have are worked out. You know, like just about every other first year sled ever built by anyone. The Yamaha version will be better then the Cat version due to the clutching alone. That's a no brainer.

Spilled milk! Wow. Yamaha under-invests in the sled market for 5+ years and borrows another's ride to stay alive and you classify that as "spilled mlk"???

Yamaha built the chassis with Cat right? I dunno, maybe your correct. I left Yamaha because I wanted a better handling sled. I should have just quit the sport and took up figure skating.

Hey my kid figure skate competitively ...lol.....it's a lot of work to.....
I'm all for this I was heading to something new and it wasn't yamaha now well there will be a viper ....I think some people are taking it a little to far I mean come on now ......if ford and gm started making cars and trucks together what are you going to by dodge...who cares really its a great handling chassis with a great engine....how would people feel if it was doo and yamaha....

Haha. This is really becoming quite something between us sledders....isn't it??? I don't think that either side of this argument is wrong. It just depends on what side you fall on. Tough call this year. There is no question that 10 years from now, everyone will look back on the outcome of this situation and understand the reality of it. Kind of hard to "fake it" in a market these days without everyone knowing about it immediately.

Who knows maybe they will all get together and make one bad azz sled ...lol....
I think it's good they both will learn something out of this.....

arteeex thanks for the perspective. Wow we do get self focused don't we.

Thanks for helping me laugh at myself

I am a home builder and just hooked up with a land developer, does that mean the quality of the homes I build will go down? No! Sometimes it just makes sense to join with another company and share the expense rather than bare the entire cost yourself. Looking at it from a business owners point of view, it make good sense to me. Love it or hate it yami and cat are in business to make money,it may piss a couple people off but it obviously is chance they are willing to take.

They developed the chassis together just thought you should know before you decide to "punish" Yam and buy a CAT. Buy what you want but the Yam clutches and absence of the TCL link motor/clutch plate (prone to breakage) make the Viper the only machine I would look at. Yam warranty is much better also have heard from many Cat people that have run/dealt with both.
