Was in a Polaris dealer yesterday and seen the the turbo 4 strokes they have. Made me think that if Polaris and AC are then that almost forces Yamaha to follow suit. That may be the big surprize sled we are all waiting to be announced. Could you imagine the sales they would generate with a sled like that? I know I would wait one year and buy one the next year from the USA of course. ;)!

They are forced to do that because yamaha patented so many things on the 4 stroke, exhaust, part of the frame, etc. They cant build a engine to meet the NA power of a yamaha without a turbo.

I really dont think a turbo would sell a ton of units, for one no manufacturer will come with a production hp higher then 200hp, 2nd it would be heavy as heck, 3rd it presents a lot of issues that could negativily effect reliability, mod freaks will up the boost, power etc and then try to get warranty claims.

If you want those turbos go buy one, IMO yamaha will never ever release one, they dont need to. Heck even artic cats highly touted Z1 is a dud and people are back on a 150hp yamaha because they are faster and more reliable.

Who needs 200 hp a lot of people here would be happy with a reliable and true 180 to 190 hp turbo sled. If Polaris and AC can put a production turbo sled on the market with warranty Yamaha can also. If someone mods it like always they forfeit their warranty. Hp overcomes weight and they are already heavy so what the heck. Yamaha needs to go for it.

I am sure it would not add a whole bunch to the cost $1000 to $1500 more on a new sled should be doable.

^^^ you are crazy if you think it would only add 1500.00....if they offered it i would guess min of 3000.00

They have to sell them too so $2000 would be the max I would think you got to remember this would be a production sled not special order.

Go to Schraders in Yorkton & look at the yamacharger they have installed in an attak. I was impressed when I checked it out yesterday. Clean; stealthy & looks like it,s supposed to be there.

It really wouldn't cost YAMAHA much more to build the sleds. They already have to fabricate the Exhaust and Intake setup. Turbos them self do not cost that much. Larger injectors and a boost referenced MAP sensor are no extra cost to them. All in all, its probibly less than 1000$ extra for yamaha to build a factory turbo sled IMO. How big is the MARKET for a factory 180-200hp turbo sled??? The local dealers sell 4 Phazers and 2 Nytros for every 1 Apex they sell.

From what I've heard the new model will only be a disssappointment for everyone wanting more power. It will be a Apex XTX. We will all be disappointed again in February like last year with the XTX nice thought but why not use there expertise and motors they already have developed like the supercharged waverunner.

you are dead on

You guy's have to remeber the sled part of Yamaha is like a grain of sand in the middle of a desert. The R&D they would have to go through to meet there stanadards and reliabilty would drive the cost to high. Remeber they sell more outboard engines in Florida in one month than they do sleds for a year. Thats the USA and CANADA combined.

Just take the engine out of the boosted jetski put it in a crossover nytro/vector light body, and call it the new SRX. Light quick and nimble. Plus the R&D is almost done.............

If they set it lower like AC and leave room for the consumer to bump up the HP with BOV's or controls it would help with some of the liability also

I think that what most of you are missing is the fact that most people DO NOT WANT a retardedly overpowered deathtrap.

I sure as hell don't.

Reason I got what I did is because is was the only 4-stroke available at the time when I needed one (I don't count the AC fatslob since it'd be easier to just WALK).

What I want is a 100hp 4-stroke weighing about what my 87EX570 weighs -- under 425 (not quite stock outside of the motor, but not too far from it).

@Sibola: Interesting that you should mention florida outboards.... reason they sell so many there is that every time a hurricane goes through, everybody gets all new stuff, and *everybody* buys yamaha since merc and brp outboards only last 3 weeks in salt water. I salvaged a couple of outboards from a florida hurricane -- 130's. Built one good out of two scrap.

I would rather see a little less weight and better traction. With that combination 200hp would not be needed.

If the XTX proves it self in the handling department this year, that could solve the traction aspect. Allot of snow being thrown out the back of these Apex even with a 136" and studded.
