Its a different kind of FUN that up to this point has not come close with a 4stroke at least in a sled. With the Dirtbikes it is more about high maintainence costs with a 4 st.

It is interesting how in the dirtbike world the roles are reversed. My 4s KTM 450 has been a complete nightmare maitinence wise and my last bike a KTM 300 2s was a mix gas and go special.
Latest rumor in the dirtbike world is that Yam and other Japanese manus. have been waiting for the E-tech patent to expire and have DI dirt bike protypes built and ready to go. If it's true who knows but there is for sure a planned DI or SDI smoker in the works from Spannish motorcycle company Ossa in the works.

Could mean something, who knows??

Ossa injected smoker:

That's a neat looking bike. I've read too many posts about the new, hi-performance, 4-stroke dirt bike motors being maintenance intensive to not believe it. I was in the market for a new dirt bike this summer to replace my 13 year old KDX 200. I was disappointed to read about how much maintenance the 250F bikes required. The 4-stroke sled motors are built to street bike standards and that's why they are so reliable. The downside is weight.
Yam WR's are the exception. They are not tuned up as high and are very reliable. Had a '03 450 that did not even need the valves adjusted after 200hrs. I would never touch any MX 4s or ANY newer KTM 4stroke for that matter. Lots of maintenance needed.

Next bike will most likely be a KTM 250 xc-w smoker. Light and easy to keep running.

That's good to hear. I used to have a 2-stroke WR 250. I'll have to look at the 450's next summer.
