I have no IDEA how you can think this is bad. See the price? Its cheaper then a entire new chassis built by yammie. Why reinvent the wheel when AC has it figured it out (and patented). The chassis and suspensions outperform yamaha on ALL fronts. Now you get a yammie engine/clutches/chaincase with a well thought out and R&D'd chassis from here in the USA where we ride and live. Its 100% perfect to me. LOVE IT

Does anyone know what the changes were to Cats chassis to accommodate Yamahas spec? No. Everyone has whined that Yamaha needs a new chassis and suspension. Now that it has happened these same people are mad that they will are getting a far superior product than what they have now. Just because it is being built in Cats factory does not mean it is going to be a dud. The sleds are still being built to Yamaha specs. True? The current Cats are far better riding and handling then pretty much any Yamaha ever built. Sure Cat has had some quality issues due to jumping the gun on releasing a new product, but I do not see Yamaha letting this happen to their new rides.
Great points! Oh, and like the the '08 FX Nytro was perfect? meh!
How many weekends have you had your Nytro at a dealer and lost riding time? Ask the average Cat owner?

I'm not so sure on the chaincase. I'm not sure how the case looks on the cats.
•Multi-purpose magnesium chaincase
The SR Viper RTX SE’s chain case and cover serve as both a mounting point for chassis spars and the engine’s oil reservoir. Lightweight magnesium construction minimizes weight.

I think that this is great! Awsome engine with an Awsome chassis. That's like taking the Cummins & Hemi out of the Dodge & putting it into a Chev. How can't you love it?

I like where this is going, hopefully it is not plagued with the issues surrounding the Cats - but it sounds like a lot of those issues might be addressed with the Yamaha parts, ie clutching! I think it looks wicked and actually like the lines better than the Cat. I will give it a year to hear some real world feedback, but Yamaha has my interest again . . . riding a Doo 1200 currently!
Kinger - I think the new body would look pretty wicked in the White Marble !!!

Doesnt the Nytro currently have 40 mm throttle bodies?
Viper shows 41 mm!
HP could be bumped up a little!

If I had a penny for how many times I heard guys say "If I could combine Yamaha motor with brand A chassie" I think its great! I really like that they are also keeping proven clutching. Wish there was boost! Hopefully AC does not screw up build qulity! But I like that fact new sleds will be built in America!!

Maybe it will be good, but I wont be purchasing a first year model, you can bet on that. If it shakes and stinks like my friends Cats and has the fit and finish of Cats, I am out for ever.

Well after talking with my dealer this morning and coming back from a Quebec trip with temps around -20F on my 09 Nytro XTX where I had the typical Nytro issues talked about on this site. I think I just committed to a Viper XTX. I like many was hoping for something other than the Cat Chasis, but it might be the right sled for me.
I am in manufacturing (sales side) and one thing is since the Sunami, Manufacturing space and time are tough in Japan. I have not been there in 12 months, but from what my company tells me in our industry, they are still struggling. I have no connections in the motorsport business, but this might have something to do with Yamaha making sleds here in the US as a stop gap prior to a totally new sled.

It looks like all the current models carry over for 2014, plus the new Viper. I think it fills the big void than has been missing since Yamaha went ALL-IN" on the 4 Strokes. It appears Yamaha finally has a sled that is truely a "ditch banger" that has the most reliable engine built. No, not for everyone, but I bet they sell a ton of them. For me... I'll stick with my "Trail Caddie" (Attak) and cruise for another 15,000 miles...

Let me guess fuel pump relay. Had the same issue on the Apex I was riding. Let me tell you after riding 1400km's on that apex, I would of rather had my Nytro. This Viper does look appealing though.
