ok so I am reading all these post about how studding your apex will destroy the wheels, I really want the traction and stoping power of studs but don't want to be changing wheels every other ride. Can somebody clear up these issues and tell me if your apex has studs without the problems
The wheels they are using now simply suck and will delaminate in time even if you don't stud. I recommend you simply pick up bogies that were used on 03 and 04 Yamaha's. I'm sure there are plenty out there. Matter of fact, I had a set left over from when I put colored wheels on my 03. Slapped em on the Attak over the weekend.
To install the 03/04 wheels you should really machine the middle idler mounts down by 0.060" (where the bearing sits against) to keep the wheels centered.
If you don't the wheels can rub against the inner drive cogs when cornering (or if the track isn't perfectly centered).
