Has anyone studded there xtx se? And if so what studs did you use and the length of them

Why do you want to stud a 2.25" track? Dont think youll be able to find studs long enough...

Yep your right, and I should know since I own one Lol... I saw his picture and was thinking LE which has the 2.25" track.

So xtx is 1.6" track..is it just single ply? I think it is, but can't go by the yamaha site cuz hard telling what's true there. Anyways if it is a single ply you're gonna have a tough time. I only know studboy studs, best all around stud you can get from the are power point studs. They also have the power point plus studs which have a bigger head to be used on single ply tracks. You can get 1.62" PP plus studs but that makes for no penetration. Once you go up to the next size (1.75") you can't get the plus studs with the bigger heads and with studs that long I wouldn't even consider running regular studs in a single ply track.

Yeah it is a single ply. 1.62 are the longest I can find for a single ply.

Since the track is really a 1.5 and only those little nubs account for the added height, along with the cobra lugs being pliable and folding over easily, you will get more penetration than you think with a 1.62 stud. Woodys and Cat even recommend a slightly shorter stud. Not a lot of options for studding this track and you want to be careful doing it with the single ply and tall studs.

Yeah I probably won't stud it but want to see if it was possible. Single ply and studs that long could be bad

I test rode one last year and it hooked up awesome. Just wondering how it will be on ice

Cat guys have been studding the 1.6 cobra single ply for the last 4 years on more powerful sleds ....800's , Turbos and boosted turbos in this chassis and lots with good results. It's not as if you can't or is a disaster. Just keep an eye on it like you would any track.

I tentatively plan to stud my 1.7 with Studboy 1.875's. Probably around 124 or so depending on the pattern and number of lugs.

2 ply track on the LE model

I am running 225 of the ice racing screw in studs in mine. They worked awesome and only lost 4 or 5 last year in 1500 miles.
They are hard to install in the thin paddles. I ended up using 2 drills one with a small drill bit and put a pilot hole in first otherwise the studs would cause the paddles to curl as you screwed them in and they would come out the side of the paddle as you ran them in.

with 220 hp I was surprised I did not pull more out but i think the flex of the 1.6" paddle helped relieve the stress on them. I was on some really icy spots htat other not studded sleds with rip saws on them were having troubling getting going from a dead stop and mine was pulling wheelies on launch.

Oh yeah and if you search you can find them for 1/4 of the cost of studs if they made any long enough which I called all over and they did not.

I forgot.... I will tell you they are hell on the shop floor and you will need help moving the sled on pavement / especially concrete:o|

I would post pics but the sled is out in SD at Ulmers shop getting MORE POWER!!!
