Studding an XTX

Just my opinion, I don't think 144 is a lot of studs. Everybody in our group has the same amount and we don't have any problems throwing the rear end around and having fun in corners. I don't think 144 would limit you in anything you wanted to do.

I agree with 100% but..... I only want to run doubles, that means 114 or 228 and 228 is way to many..... if I boost this thing next year maybe 228 but for now I will stick with 114.

P.S. I have a XTX so 144 studs is for a 121in track mine would require 171 studs in the same pattern you speek of.

;)! ;)!

I am running a 1.25x 144 preditor, and am using a 4-2 patter. You can double the 4's up. Problem is the odd number lugs you end up with 2 4's together. You could also go 3 every row, and double 2 of them on one side of center, and single the other. Maxdlx

Ok, here is what I have come up with.......attn: guys wanting to ONLY run double backers on thier XTX. This is a Firecat/Sabercat woody's stud template for 128/144 inch tracks that at first I tried to cut it in the center and widen it........but..... the windows on the XTX are HUGE, thus making the studs to close fore comfort to the windows ( about a 1/4 inch). So having a Firecat,a Nytro RTX with a 1.25x16x136 doo track on it, and my XTX all in the shop I did some comparing to make sure this would work. Its simple, I added some thin cardboard to the one end of the template with superglue and widened the track openings by 5/8 of an inch on each end.........thats it. I put it on the track and it seems to be perfect.

Pics coming......having problems loading.........

Is 108 enough? I always use '1 stud per horsepower' theory...which would be in the range of 135-138  !!...which would put you in the 144 range.

Anybody that puts 108 studs in a 135+ HP sled is asking for trouble. It puts too much stress on the studs. You are asking for trouble with pull throughs or bending. This is like putting 96 studs on a 121" track, in a 800 two stroke. You have to go at least 144 (121" track) or so on a sled with this kind of power. At the very least, 120. JMO.

I had 153 picks with tall nuts in my F7 and I have a track that looks like swiss cheese after 5000 miles............sorry I don't buy that....double backers make a world of difference. 114 on a 144 for me. and I bet I dont loose a single stud! :tg:

Sorry Buddy, 108 studs on my Firecat F7 (140hp) rode 5,500 miles I'm 250lbs and NEVER tore out a stud, bent 3 total....., I trust me I ride HARD!!!!

I'm going with 114 on the XTX, mostly cause too many studs add weight and KILL your top end!!!

I ran 114 on double backers with 3/4" tall nuts on my 144" Gade for more than 12,000 miles without a bent stud, no pull throughs and at least 160hp without using the Nitrous. It all depends on how you ride, whether you are a drag racer or spin the crap out of your track coming out of corners.

I just finished studding my XTX last weekend. Used only doubles in this pattern

Repeating this pattern around track gives you 172.

It shouldnt be. The pattern you see is 1/3 of the total track, as a whole it should be balanced...............I guess Ill know in a few weeks.
