I install with a 12v impact...use a nyloc nut AND loctite....AND THE KEY IS QUANTITY AND A BALANCED PATTERN..
those studs are a pointier lake racer carbide....so I keep an eye on them more...if you run high miles...and want a rugged durable stud....snow studs warthogs....virtually indestructable...ask me how I know

I hear you SJ, I was just wondering how many miles you typically get out of your track and studs set up like that.I install with a 12v impact...use a nyloc nut AND loctite....AND THE KEY IS QUANTITY AND A BALANCED PATTERN..

You might find it interesting that I got 5,700 miles out of a single pair of dupont hyfaxes and original carbides. Still haven't changed them out. Also had zero stud tear outs on my track. Track appears new. All U.P. and Ontario miles. Sled ran 80+ miles an hour for hours at a time. Apex SE.

The Dupont Slides are quite amazing. I have 1,800 miles and left them on because they are virtually like new. I also have woody's with studboy pro light backers. Only one backer cracked all season and we ran over some rough stuff at times early in the season. No track issues at all. 2011 APEX. Ordered sidewinder, hope the experience is the same. There is snow way up in the northernmost part of Quebec. Hope it sticks and starts moving south fast.
if durability and dependability is your concern...
IMHO dont do plastic backers...yes..none of them...and especially the pro lite backers

I CAN see using plastic for some racing applications for sure, BUT not trail riding for many miles.

Any pictures of plastic tunnel protector that slide into the aluminum channels? There was talk of these being required, but I don't see them in accessories yet

So what is the vertict on studs ? Down the middle only yes. How many for a 137? And what pattern? Going with roe tin hornet studs (have them on phazer and Apex) there awesome. Have the plastic backards never had issues. But
What I here double backards is the way to go ???

I felt the same..but now realize their hands are tied since Yamaha is completely behind in delivering the parts list etc. Not his fault!
