I am going with 171 in the center belt only. Here is what Woody's recommended if you want to avoid the direct center area....
"David, Mark here at woodys. David if that is the case then you would not do the three singles per pitch because some of them will be in the center. If you want to avoid the center of the center belt then I would use the 128-temp that template will do a single and a double in each pitch. It also avoids the center because the fire cat that it was designed for had a center tunnel protector if you do the 153 pattern using doubles and singles it will give you 171 because your track is longer.

I'm doing the same pattern, I ride a bunch of trails with stones and crap some times, so I think I'm going to go with 1.325", What do you think?
Woudl 1.45" be ok with crappy trails?

Run 1.450" if you are looking for optimum performance. I swapped my 1.325" to 1.450" and difference in holeshot was significantly improved.

I'm looking for my trail preformance, I have a MPI apex to mess around on the lake

I ride through some rough trails with stone and sometimes hills that are spun down to bare dirt, so I'm going with the 1.325

Why would you want to run 171 studs for trail riding? That's an insane amount for what you are trying to do on a 144" track.

That's what they said to put in at Hurricane, bc of the extra hp, I need to put more studs in. I run the lake too, but when I want to race on the strip I will take my apex. Also, if you don't put in enough studs you run more of a risk studs pulling out. Rule of thumb is 1 stud per hp, but if you run 2 2 3 pattern with 57 pitches you will have the last two the same. That's what Mark from Woody's told me.

With 180 +/- HP the 171 studs are an ideal amount using the 1 stud per HP ratio.

Over 4,300 abusive miles here on 114 - 1.450" studs with absolutely no pullouts. The 1 hp per stud rule of thumb worked great and mostly applied to the tracks a decade ago. With today's advanced technology tracks you can run them longer for improved traction with lesser amount to minimize rotational mass and benefit from optimum performance. Look at Doo for instance, the 800e-tec claimed @ 160hp yet dealers stud them with only 84. Fact is, they do pull out over a period of time but that is really pushing it @ alomost <2hp per track on single ply. Of course stud sales people want you to run more studs.. Why do you think that is? $$$$$

I honestly could not see myself trail riding a Nytro XTX with 171 studs and being able to enjoy coming into the turns at moderate speeds. At the very least install a good set of skis to provide adeaquate bite to be able to corner...

Curve XS with the leading edge and 9" Stud Boy carbides should help...

how about the 144 double single center pattern from woodys universal template? would be 172 studs leaving 2 pitches the same in the end would that hurt anything?
