I would like to replace my stock skis with new aftermarket skis b/c I have excessive darting when slowing down or at throttle release. I ride a Yamaha Apex LTX and 70% of my riding is done in Canada on trails and 30% of my riding is off trail. I am looking at Simmons or the Pilot 5.7 or Pilot 6.9 ski doo skis.....do you have any suggestions??

The doo pilot skis only exist because their previous attempt at skis was a very poor knockoff of simmons... that they were sued for... and lost. So as an attempt to save face, they made pretend that their last skis were discontinued for evolutionary reasons. They couldn't go back to standard skis because it would just be too obvious why they did.
I think you can guess at what I am recommending... Maybe take a look at the simmons G2's -- extra wide for extra float. Though I haven't actually seen any up close, they appear to have an identical middle area (i.e. contact patch on hardpack/trails) as original simmons, but tons of extra floatation off trail. In other words, same when on trail, better when off.

Question: Is Pilot 5.7 means they are 5.7" wide and Pilot 6.9 are 6.9" wide?
I guess the minimum to have a good flotation with the Apex, would be 6.5 and greater.

if it is only for darting your changing them, cheapest thing to do is use dartless plates. they sell them on here. Search Dartless and you will find them.

I run the 6.9 ploits on my APEX RTX 144" and love them good off trail and great on trail.

the 5.7 pilots actually float very well for their width. i was and am pretty impressed by them, but then again pretty much any ski is gonna be better than the stock yammis
