Supercharger/Turbocharger One Big Question

You are sure getting screwed on the fuel. The 4 turbo kits that I had something to do with last winter are still running. Ran 3 head gaskets, ran 50/50 up tp 15lbs. Have couple buddies near K-town, same results for the last couple of years. Don't see why stacking wouldn't work on the super, as boost is boost, just the temp of the air. I don't understand the head shim yet. Stock gasket is around .030 " thick, shims are .080 thick +, so I am assuming that you have to have a gasket on both sides of the shim? so then it becomes .140". Be close to a compression ration of 8 to 1. Why can't piston builders make the low comp piston 8 to 1 to began with. :o|

gaskets or head shim

take apart new gasket and replace center shim with .080 then you have total of .100" and ratio of 9.11to 1 and good throttle response and run at altitude up to 12 lbs boost on pump gas.
Hope to come up with cam timming lobe centers specs for more power at same boost.

Picture of me on Vector in the middle and all others are RX1's Randy left and Brett right.

Ah, a nice picture of the Big Dawg Shootout. That was a great day! I remember your Vector working quite well Dave.

Thanks SD, that makes more sense know. That pic must be from the 04 shoot out, less people and more snow.

BOOST PRESSURE ON SUPERCHARGER

i AM THE NORTHEAST DEALER FOR MPI AND THERE IS WAYS TO REMEDY THE THE PRBLEM . WE HAVE A AJUSTABLE BLEEDER VALVE, THAT IS PLACED BEFORE THE INTERCOOLER, THIS A WAY TO RESTICT THE AMOUNT OF BOOST UNTIL YOU NEED IT CALL ME FOR MORE INFO. TOLL FREE AT 1 866 31 TURBO THANKS GREG

ok i'm lost

i'm making my mind to buy a SC but there so many detail i would know before. I'm riding 0-3000 feet, offtrail. I'm gooing with the MPI kit if i buy.

MPI give hp rating for 10 psi. somewhere near 240 HP. What i'm going to have between 0-3000 feet in HP and if i want to burn premium fuel, how many head gasket, or much Hp and what kind of throttle response i'm gonna have. Oh and what boost level is gonna be safe to ride. For sure i dont want to spend 6000$ can + installation for 180 HP.

How much time to put a haed gasket ?

Thanks,
KBXSRX i send you a PM for a price inquiry, did you receive it

thanks
JF

I agree with you Tundra, nobody seems to want to answer these questions with straight goods answers about the supercharger,I know I wont spend the over 6k Can. for 180 hp,might have to go turbo.

I,m reading this thread and have to agree with you guy,s I can,t figure out what the hush hush is all about. I would like to buy a S.C. but without the info might have to go turbo.

Let me kill a couple of birds with one stone.

The two pulleys included in the kit will get you either 5 or when reversed 10 lbs of boost. I will say that if you know you will ride in good snow conditions and never operate in conditions with low snow you could go with another option of getting two different gears and run 7.5 lbs of boost (190-195 hp on rx-1, 200-205 hp on Apex ) on pump gas with a stock motor, but only if you know you will always ride in good snow conditions.

Now when adding head gaskets to the RX-1 or Apex motor it will take roughly 10-15 hrs of total time for a first timer as my guess. If you wanted to stack 3 stock head gaskets or get a head gasket which is roughly .090" thick you should be able to run 10 lbs of boost on premium pump fuel. The nicest thing about the supercharger is that by adding a thicker head gasket you won't create any excess lag or slower throttle response. The throttle response is one of it's biggest assets.

I think the biggest reason you're not seeing any talk is because the supercharger is a fairly new product and not alot has been done as far as head gaskets, etc. I plan on running my RX-1 with 3-head gaskets and a stage 2 supercharger kit on pump gas at 12 lbs for the trail this winter. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability.

;)!

if i understand well, if i ride all day in powder, i could go with 7.5 lbs at 195 HP on pump gas, but if it didnt have enough snow to cool the engine, i must run 50/50 mix at 7.5 lbs. Finally run 10 lbs is almost impossible except if i run 50/50 with good snow condition.

Is that a elevation or a sea level, and how much little beast my sled will pull out with 10 lbs with 3 head gasket ?

thanks

we have ton of snow except january where snow is more icy due to @%@$? rain in the beginning of january and cold temps

jf.

Thanks for that info , next question I had e-mailed you earlier for a tentative time frame on ordering and delivery of s.c. , also your going to run three head gaskets on premium fuel,I take it thats between 0-3000 ft elev. Thanks again
