I am going to do some kind of forced induction this year on my sled I am caught in the middle of a SC or a turbo. Just wondering how a turbo does in the trees, are they laggy? I just would like to hear some opinions of people that ride superchargers and trubos

Depends on what you are doing I think. Mountains turbo seems to be the way but A Lot of flat land guys myself included are using superchargers for 230+ Hp trail sleds!

When you say trail, does that also mean that on deep powder and most hills superchargers are good as well, when you say trail can you be more detailed on your definition of trails.

I love to break off trails, and play in the deep alot more than climbing, and trails.

I do alot of tree riding and climbing how does the bottom end feel with a turbo, is it about the same as stock or does it feel like it has less power than stock?

I do a fare amount of boondocking and I have no disappointments w/my turbo. I strongly feel that clutching is paramount when it comes to turbo lag. I use HH's and it has pretty much taken the lag out.

With a turbo and stock engine my RX1 rocks. Very snappy off the line and hardly any lag. For safety sake I put in two Yamaha head gaskets and I did notice that it is not quit as snappy off the line but I can turn up the boost if I want too. I had it in the grass dragging it and had a throttle problem, cable was caught in there somehow, fixed that and the turbo boost rod was hung up. Fixed those two item and turned the boost up. It seemed snappy again. Turning that boost up was a mistake. Just about went over backwards, almost saved it but lost it. No damage except to my pride, it was a hell of a light though a .517! My wife says I love this sled more than she, huh.

I have a supercharger and I ride with a front mount turbo and rear mount in the same areas and snow condtions as you 4 strokin we all have 03 RX1s all 159s and aftrmarket rear skids I didnt have to "clutch" to get rid of lag there isnt any with a S/C period we all run 10psi boost. hillclimbing all the turbos have to do to get more is flip a switch I cant but they are all 3 the same at 10 lbs until we get in a bad spot in a creek in the trees in 4 ft of powder mine has as good or better throttle response than stock.

Its just my opinion they all work great I am happy with what I have and everyone with a turbo or S/C will tell you the same thing you cant go wrong with a boosted Yamaha which ever way you go good luck and when the snow flys you are more than welcome to ride all three and then decide

I think that I am going to go with the SC here is a list of mods that I am going to do :

Stage 2 sc
Fabcraft tunnel
lightweight skid
174 X 16 challnger track
get the avid drop and roll chain case
mtn mod seat
and some sort of exhaust

Let me know if there is anything that you would do or not do

Every body has their own prefernces .........................But since you asked.
Mcexpress turbo
Vanamberg tunnel
Mountain addiction skid
162x 16 challenger track
Stock chaincase with reverse
Boss seat

sled

Heres mine

06 apex
mcx rear mount
wildchild t top post
mahler risers
boss seat
alpine hood

Thats my sled but if i had a endless bank acount i would drop it off at cr racing and have the lightest turbo ever made lol

looks like alot of guy are selling s/c to go with turbo's. not sure why this is? i've got the mc rear and love it. would love to try a s/c though.

174" track is overkill IMHO.....you have to really think about if you want to give up boondocking and steering by puting that 174 on there. Think of it this way......there are a lot of riders with turbos that can climb almost anything with a 162".....why would you need the 174"???? (that was a rhetorical question..the answer is you won't)

I would stick with the 162"
Good luck.

I think that 174" track would be great! It would help act even more like a wheelie bar. Years ago (In 2 stroke land) when long tracks were Polaris 133" and most everyone else had 136" tracks, me and my buddies were making home made rail extensions and putting on 156" tracks with 2" plastic paddles. Back then guys would ask how do you turn that thing on the hill? We would say, you don't, you go over the top! I now have the 162"x16" on my RX-1 and I boondock, bump ride and ride in the steep and deep. 174" would just help stop the wheeling a bit more. This is the 1st sled I have owned or riden that I never wish it would go better or spend hours tweeking to get more outta her. It ussually scares me at least once every ride :4STroke: Oh yea, as far as front mount, mid mount and rear turbos or a blower go, ITS ALL GOOD. Do any of these and you'll come home laughing after every ride :jump:

2005 RX1-MC rear mount turbo
SLP skis
Raised seat
162"x2 1/4"x16" Track
Turn the key and RIDE
