Supertrax ignores Yamaha release???

Seriously. ..I like to read everything about my favorite brand too, looking for positives, but you have to be careful and use your own judgement and what you see on the trails, as that is reality. Truth is....what is great this year, sucks next year! Like polaris....that goofy geometric ladder out back was fabricated tubing...but the next year cast aluminim...to solve the problems of the tube not being precise....but in model year, it was the greatest! !! Then even greater with the cast!! Same with doo...awesome this awesome that....then the next year you need RAS...maybe even RAS 2, 3 ,4 until it's right??? Oh..and the greatest handling now sucked last year as they have new skis! I rode an old 2002 zx chassis a few weeks ago for 70 miles with a ripped track and beat the snot out of it....once re-adapted to how to ride it, I was gone! Seems to me they used to snowcross them, eh?? Those sleds started doos resurgence and yeah...the first revs sucked to me.And the mags are riding prototypes, for the most part. I can't honestly go much faster on the trails.....and if the bottoming gets better, well, need to really stay on the ball..lol..on an old apex.Sleds are pretty much like cars...it's all been tried...now it just gets rearranged repackaged and some even higher pressure fuel injection....whatever...still a frame track and motor, and the assembly and calibration is key. Oh yeah...polarises rear suspension reminds me of the geometry of the old Doo PRS twin external progressive rate suspensions, with a new twist...that's all! Nothing new under the sun...biggest technology is computer controlled crap....which gives better mileage, etc ...ok...fine. Had an 08 Mach z with jaws pipes that had 176 hp...an 800. woopty...freaking doo...now there is an 850 with 167? Lmao...Better mileage though....

The problem is they don't know how to praise a great sled from Yamaha, Nobody can. Not sure why???? 98SRX, negative, 03 RX1, Negative, 06 Apex, negative, 14 Viper, negative, now the Sidewinder? They just don't like Yamaha..

Maybe there holding off on there opinions until they actually ride it. Much like I'm doing and most of us should be doing. Personally I think it will do fine and I'm happy to see Yamaha come out with an all new engine. The future looks more promising.

It is sweet...glad they did it! I just don't pay much attention to the sled media...they will praise the power fit and finish and then give the obligatory negatives...too heavy...ski lift...etc....but in reality....will it be much faster than the turbot zr 9000....I hope lots...and better reliability...some one needs to build the bugatti veyron of sleds...as an engineering marvel, and call it apex!! Forget sales numbers....just do it for bragging rights, and command respect!

X2 Besides no snow hardly to ride on ether!! Its all plastic, aluminum and rubber. Its not rocket science!!

One thing the manufacturers can do??? FIRE BUCK ROGERS, who is obviously the sled industry official designer ..in fact, Yamaha has the best looking sleds, imo, cat 2nd. Too much x box...not enough creativity....or maybe I'm just getting too old....lol.

I had to say wth a few weeks ago they did a segment on the expedition. The sled that took the place of the gsx. "Love the sled, but the twitchy ness and I would be afraid to take it off trail because the front suspension will be torn off if you hit anything under the snow". So what do you do with it? But it's light lmao

Btw...I bet the Lester boys are in a man cave somewhere swilling labatts blue...laughing at our comments...no offense...but some of you Canadians are a bit strange...lol...and those Lester boys are some odd ducks.... :)

Its mostly to do with our neighbors! Huh! LOL!

Did anybody else notice that Supertrax hasn't posted a thing about the Yamaha release???
Today they posted a review of the Thundercat...but nothing on the Cat line-up or Yamaha line up.
I read as many reviews as I can find to get a more rounded idea of what the media is thinking

It's kinda strange as Supertrax has really been pro Yamaha for awhile now.

T-Cat was a iconic name so I can see it getting a blurb other then that what is new in cats lineup. Looking around I notice very little about Yamaha's turbo engine but that is all that is new. One new/old Cat sled Yamaha powered. Even in the Cat forums very little hoopla about the new Yamaha engine and only a few buying up the last Cat turbos cause they are so easy to hop up. Even Ski-Doo has only the 850 twin that is new and one ugly looking line up of sleds making the Enduro the best of the bunch and last year it was the ugliest of the bunch. Go figure! Don't know what Poo is doing don't care!

I think they are just waiting till the snow fly's again and they get to test them. Hard to review something till then. Its only the Yamaha TY that is going nuts about everything!

TY people are passionate! And like Mulder, seek the truth! So why an 850....strange...just like that 500ss that was really a 600? Oh well...nothing else to do...60's this week here....winter is trashed, just like last year's best-in-class, With 7 fuel injectors, now injecting iodine to seed clouds so it snows, showing tailights on Kevlar lake, 6 1/2 inch lug x 455 inch long camoplast sneaker, weighing in at 52 pounds dry!!..lol!!!

I'm not quite sure where all the Supertrax hate is coming from? Their YouTube channel is full of Yamaha sleds. A couple weeks ago they released a few videos, one being a Viper MTX review (both rides gave a very positive review of the sled), one video they compared the top mountain sleds from all four brands, and in another video from this year they rode up in Revelstoke with all Vipers.

You guys should check out SledHead 24-7 and all of their BS. They review all 4 brands for each ride category in the separate videos, but when they put together the full episodes that aired on TV, they removed ALL of the Yamaha content (I'm guessing it's because they're not a sponsor). I actually watched the 2016 Groomed Trail Sleds video and Episode 1 back to back. They went in, cut every video clip that showed the viper, and even cut someone off mid-sentence when they said "All 4 manufacturers"

Like politics, follow the money...only there really isn't that much in sledding for obvious reasons. I only read the free supertrax issues, and even then, can almost predict what will be said. I have mag issues (race and rally, Invitation to snowmobiling, snowmobile) from the early 70's, and it's fun to go back and read the stuff....or the ads, which are great....Evinrude, Scorpion, Chuck Conners and the Brut ( I think), Skiroules, women in bikinis on the sleds....lol... and red and white yamahas with......GROUND BREAKING... oil injection! I had an RTX (sound familiar???) Skiroule 447, and a Skiroule Laser....50 hp kohler.
Nothing the mags do bother me....they hated everything I happened to ride....skroules were junk except for Villeneuves racers, then ski doo for decades can't snocross or cross country....too heavy....no suspension...but good motors....then Yamaha 4 strokes....too heavy, can't snowcross, can't cross country....so...whatever I'm riding is the worst...LOL.
Oh yeah...a Johnson....lol...snowmobile ad read something like...'you can really wiggle it down a hill'...with a skier next to it? Have to look it up, but it stuck in my mind all these years!!!!!!!!

i read the snowmobile mags (and watch the television shows) only to see what the other brands have to offer to keep myself current. I'm always interested in seeing/reading what others have since i don't go to there sites to check them out. why because :rocks:;)!

Back when the 2011 Apex and 2014 Vipers came out I thought Snowtrax did a good report on them. Not sure either what all the hate is about with Snowtrax. I did notice this year they were doing a lot more mountain riding features ( it is one of the biggest segments these days) and destinations, why not. like mentioned above there really hasn't been much new to talk about from any manufacturer until now. I'm sure they will feature some of them soon.

I don't hate them at all....it just seems that most of the hype never materializes on the trails, and we all know Yamahas are heavier...get over it...and we know apexs really are one of the best snowmobiles ever built...admit it...sales numbers seem so important to the mags....I wish they had more real technical info instead of prototype riding impressions....go on a guest ride....I've have impressions from relatives and friends, who rode the same exact sled and totally different opinions..!! No other sport really has this, so what you like may be far different than what I like, so their opinions really mean nothing...give me tech details and what adjustments are available, because I am certainly going to change things. And facts..instead of 800 class dominating power, how about some real hp and 1/4 mile times with weather conditions...facts so we can relate to our sleds...not just opinions.Years ago, ski do actually had some drag race times...at least you could compare numbers, even if taken with a grain of salt....first down Kevlar lake is rediculous talk..lol....and showroom appeal at the burger stop....lol....gimme hard facts, like car mags do.....
