I think this is a great idea...something that should have come from the factory.

Yamaha had magnetic Chain Case dip sticks in the past, there were usually some steel shavings on the magnet on every oil change.

the reason i made this is because i had a sled with one and it was shocking what i would pull out of the chainecase, lookes like pencil shavings and i knew that would shorten the life of the chainecase. you may spend a few bucks but it could save you lots of money down the road. There is a reason every other snowmobile company has one stock on there sleds. and the slip on will be cheep I am guessing around 15-18 dollars i don't know exactly yet.

I often thought that magnets were better located imbedded into the drain plug bolt.
12mm yes??
I wonder which one fits.

sj said:any magnet that is placed into the chaincase comes with risk and a degree of liability..if the magnet ever becomes unattached , major damage is possible..
I added 3 rare earth magnets to the outside of the chaincase portion of the dipstick on my attak and worked pretty well..
Ski-doo has been running this for ever. I don't see an issue.

Thats were I got the idea from when I had a rev. It was crazy what I pulled out. dont know price yet. still testing to make sure the glue I use is the right one and won't fail. This is also a way to make sure there is no major problems, if there is to many or to big af shavings than normal you know there is a issue. You cant do that if the drain bolt is magnetick unless you drain the chaincase. My idea you can check to see if there is any issues anywhere, on the trail, in the garage, at the gas station, anywhere anytime!
