Hey Yall! I just bought a used 07 Phazer GT (with 220 miles on it), & the inside idler wheels (or suspension wheels) are messed up. I have 2 new ones, & was wondering if there was a "step by step" post on how to replace them. Im new to sleds & usually have the "tear into it" attitude, but i thought i'd ask the experts first..... THANKS!

I'm fairly new on this too, and not all that adept at tearing things apart and putting them back together. However, I spent a little time today looking in the TY Tech section here, and it kind of looks like every question you might have about working on your sled is probably covered in there. Its a pretty amazing resource to have, as I'm starting to discover. Good luck!

Which are the "inside" The top large idlers, 2 inside front idlers, or the inside rear idlers?
There are 9 wheels in there right?

Its the 2 on the bottom, inside the frame that are right where the shocks mount

I would pull the whole thing out and do it on the bench.
-loosen track adjuster bolt (count turns so you can tighten afterwards)
-take tension off springs (lift long arm up over idler, let it dangle.
-lift #*$&@ end up so track is off ground
-if you are pulling it out thru the right side take off the left, outside rear idler wheel.
-take out front suspension tunnel bolts
-take out rear suspension tunnel bolts, hold that skinny nut on the inside of the tunnel with large crescent wrench
-when it drops down, compress suspension and wrestle it out, #*$&@ end first, it won't be easy but keep at it
-alternates-
tip sled on side and you can swing out the track and suspension 90 degrees to the sled and lift it out that way. oil loss may occur

yep same problem here. those 2 in the middle don't stay straight too long.
easiest is to do on a bench. i think you may need to line up the wheel hole with the bolt to access the bolt. i would not put in the wheel with the 3 holes in them or it will happen again. find a solid wheel like the ones on the outside.

suspend the rear of the sled so the track is off the ground. loosen the rear axle nut. loosen the track thru the rear adjusters - count your revolutions when you loosen it so you can get it back. remove the outer wheels to get at the bolts for the inner wheels. remove the bolts for the center wheels and you should be able to get the wheels out and replace them. reverse the process.

Got my idler wheels replaced, ended up lifting the rear of the sled, removing the outside wheels so I could get to the bolts on the inside wheels, removed the bolts from the inside wheels, removed the upper bolt on the front shock, then took a small pry bar to compress the shock sot the assy would move up & allow me to get the shaft & wheels off. THANKS!!
One thing i discovered, i think my shock is toast...... i can push on the rear of the sled & bottom it out, & it takes forever for it to rebound.... thats stinks for a sled with 220 miles on it....

Is it up on shop dollies or on the flat ground. It's weird but it makes a difference. What are your 3 position spring adjusters set at? A sag is normal till you hit the rear of the transfer blocks. Then it should rebound to that position. If it comes up slowly it might need to be taken apart and all the shafts cleaned and greased.

My spring is set on "M" position & the mono is set about the middle.... I'm not used to snowmobile suspensions, I'm comparing it to my ATV's & Dirt bike... Maybe I'll clean up & re-grease & see if that helps.... Just don't "seem" right to me... Thanks Again!!!
