Swap Apex ignition into and RX1 - whats involved

i have the the trigger wire for the rev limiter hooked up to the gray wire coming out of the stator housing. and the trigger hooked up to my brake switch ti trigger it, i have tested it out in the shop and it seems to work ok, but as Mberryracing said it may not work to consistent at the track, if it dont work im only out $100 so its not that bad, i hope it works for me and anyone else thats willing to try it . good luck with it

Ive used an MSD 2 step in my race car. Ive used the Dyna drl-300cdi on my Mach Z on asphalt. I would say they work pretty much the same. Staging and building consistent boost on a turbo'd anything Ive heard can be a bit of an issue. Ive watched guy racing Buick Grand Nationals....they always staged a little differently. I wish now I would have talked to them about why. HAHAHA

If the Dyna drl-300cdi will function properly on the RX1 I would be willing to go for the 100bux gamble.

Thanx Tyler

i will be at the track in 2-3 weeks so i will let you guys know how it goes.

Look forward to hearing about it.....our first race is May 11/12. Im on the fence about getting another Dyna rev limiter but since its only 100BUX.....

thats the same weekend im going out, if you can wait till after that weekend to get one i will let you know how i make out, but 100 off ebay is cheap, and if you dont like it you still can sell it for 75-100

As long as when you hold the button it holds revs consistently and when the button is released it stops it should work as well as an MSD. (In your case the break lever) Hmmm.....I think Im just going to buy one and try it. Gray wire from the stator housing; did you hook the other Dyan wire into the kill switch wires?

It can be done, but as mbarryracing says the MSD-4 is the way to go.

Here's what it takes to convert to Apex electrics.

Complete apex wire harness With all sensors.
Apex ECU
Apex magneto, volt regulator/rectifyer
Apex exhaust camshaft
Apex camshaft position sensor machined into the RX-1 valve Train cover, or apex valve Train cover
I would recommend an EFI Conversion for the obvious reason
Apex coils
MSD Launch Control.
The cams have to be degreed to fit the Apex ignition timing.
There may be more going into it.

The right thing to do is to buy the MSD-4 and it has the launch Control feature built in and full ignition Control to boot.

just my two cents worth

well it worked for about 5 or 6 try's in the shop and went to try it again today and the box get really hot and now nothing . so it looks like we're back to square one . sorry sledracer that I have not emailed you back been swamped at work . no time for anything .
