I agree. I would think one could run the cheapeast stuff they could find and would be fine. I just feel that for once a year it's not that much to buy "the good stuff" and run that. I've run old 10/30 and 10/40 in a s10 blazer I drove to 189000 miles and M1 5/30 in a Neon to 185000 miles and still driving it and in my truck and M1 20/50 in my ACR never a issue (knock on wood)

Ive used a tons of different oils and seen some significant changes from one to the other.
I have also run the european mobil 1 in my apex and was very happy with it.
This past summer I tried some motul 300v in my honda rincon and was real surprised with it. It really really quieted down the noisy rincon. I also saw an improvement with shifts they were firmer, not as drawn out.
The motul 300v is a 5-40. They dont offer it in 0-40 but im
Going to run it in my apex this winter and see how it works out.

Irv, I knew you would add to this. I'll have to look it up, I think it was on a Ram fourm. I did read that the 0w40 European forumla is a group 4 full synthetic to conform with the European guidelines but all the other M1 were not after the Castro syntec law suit. On a side note I found this when my Ram got developed the "Hemi Tick" at 70000 miles and was looking for a cure. I have winced switched to Redline 0/30 in the truck and the tick is gone. I'm no oil expert and can know quot others or what I've red but I did read that the redline has a hugs Molly content and has a ester base stock.

What Ram forum are you on Mcamzr? I use ramforumz.com occasionally but am interested in others.

I read your other post, but I am curious where your buddy got his information from?
Again, not saying it isn't true, it's just that anyone could have wrote it, including you or me.

I have my doubts the 5W-30, or some of Mobil's other weights are synthetic either but I have read no real concrete proof to proof otherwise.
I did not read the synthetic link you posted, maybe it is in there, and like you also mentioned, many posts on bitog about it shearing down quickly make one believe it likely isn't. Maybe we will never know for sure?

Like I mentioned, I do like Pennzoil products so I may try them in my Vector, but it might be difficult as the UOA's for the Mobil European formula I use are always top notch.

Oil debates will go on forever, no doubt about it but they do make for some interesting reading at times don't they. ;)!

Sorry RXThunder, I thought it was you who said you used Rotella T but now realize it was Smokingcrater.

I just looked up the oil he chooses to use and seen it now has a pour point of minus -42C.
That is a pretty decent number and one I was surprised to see,

The last batch of Mobil-1 European I purchased stated -40C? The previous batches I purchased a couple years ago stated -52C so something with their formula definitely changed??

I "may" now consider the Rotella T?? :drink:

They do make for some interesting reading. I have been on ramforum.com I have learned a fee good things over there. Here is another long I was sent, I haven't read it yet though.

I just switched to redline oil in my truck. I have a 05 with 70000 on it and just started getting the hemi tick, I've been using M1 since new. I could here the tick from 70 feet away at night in my driveway ( I live in the country so it's pretty quite) I switch to the redline and after 300 miles I can't even here it right next to the truck. From what I understand it has a high Molly content and is a ester based oil. I am about to drain the fresh M1 out of the nytro and try the redline (I needed to order a bit more for free shipping). Ill pm you a link I read on the ram site, it's pretty long but intresteing.
