Is anyone using the Yamaha tank bank with a trail tank? Just wondering if there are any fit issues before I order one. Thanks.

I just installed a Yamaha tank bag the other day, works good with the trail tank but there's no way to fasten the bag to the trail tank, without the trail tank the tank bag hooks on the the original plastic that covers the original tank so you have to get creative on how you hold it in place with the trail tank...
I'll try to post a few pics in a few minutes to show how I did it...

I also have the wrp seat, tank bad still fits fine...

That's how I ended up mounting it to tank, I used the original hood clip location... the tank bag comes with like a plastic j hook stitched to the bag I cut the hook part off leaving just the flat plastic, I heated a centre punch and made a hole through the bag and plastic which is between hood and what you see on the pic...
Note... that's not the original length quick release clip, I had two of them that came with the side wind deflectors which I don't use and they work perfect for this, the original ones may not be long enough... I'm sure there's more ways to mount it, just wanted to let you know how I did mine... it's a nice bag with lots of room...

Thanks for the the pics and info. I'm going to order one and get creative to mount it up. I had one on my 09 without the trail tank, and loved the bag. All I have now is a puny handlebar bag.

How on earth did you get the bag to mount to the tunnel.

I just got one and can't get it to fit

I also have a Trail tank and wrp seat

Any tips?

Ms

I have a tank bag that works on the TrailTank with no modification. I have another one just like it for sale in the classified section.

Mine is just like Grizztracks, works great. Also have one on the Phazer.

Fabio, do you have a link for the longer clips? I bought the bag, got it to fit but cutting the loops off the straps, but the local Yamaha dealer here in Rangeley doesn't have the longer clips.

I also have the one like grizztracks but I'm picky and I didn't like the way the trail tank meets the seat "gap" so I end up ordering the one that has the side pockets to cover the gap lol...

Sevey if you have the same one like mine than the buttons should reach the tunnel. I didn't do anything special to make mine reach...

Schwaaa3 the longer ones alone are not a Yamaha part, they came with the side wind deflectors which are a Yamaha accessory from Yamaha which I had laying around, I've seen topics on here discussing the quick release fasteners maybe someone on here will lead you in the right direction where to get them, i will post back if I can find them online...

Your post couldn't be more timely. I have a tank bag like that from Santa Claus and was on the verge of returning it until i studied your pics. Planning on mounting it in the next few days. The material can stretch a bit which helps. But it's close, that's for sure.

There is no way I can use the hood fastener to hold the front straps. Even with longer dzas fasteners for The trail tank ther is no room left. I also have the side deflector wind screens which make it tougher to work around.

Thanks for the post
Ms

I installed mine the way Fabio showed in his posts. Thank you for the tips. I got 22mm dzus fasteners on kurveygirl.com.
