Easy enough to just leave the intake tube in place and pull the air box out.

You have to thread the needle on the smallest screw and nut I've ever seen in my life. Not quite blind. And the tighter you do your fabrication work the more work it is to get in and out.Doesn’t it just pop out ? Installation video I watched just shows it snapping in Didn’t show cutting the hole in the box though.
For some reason you have to muscle the factory air box back in with everything you got to get the mounting screws in, from underneath. It's quite the joke.....

Wrapped inside and top of case that came out fine and just threw a patch on that hose. Heat gun helps to get the adhesive tacky.
Tim, I assume this is where you try to extend the curtain? How much extension is required?

That exactly where I was referring to.
Cover that gap so no direct line from header over valve cover and down some so heat shield protects valve cover gasket area.

One more piece to go. I'll save that for manana. Hopefully I'll be able to close things up tomorrow. Emailed TD for header tunes.

My headers touching the shroud. Should I give her a couple relief cuts?
So the question is can the header touch the shroud or will it create heat spots

I would ensure the header does not or can not touch anything. A die grinder would work well on the shield to shape the opening for clearance.

You don't want it touching, could make a nice rattle sound and conduct heat. Your likely past this point but did you consider the header blanket $$ (I think Tomcat sells it) and wrapping the header in heat wrap?My headers touching the shroud. Should I give her a couple relief cuts?

Well ...on & off, on & off. Probably 15 times. I finally cut too much and left a gap between the two Shields.
I'll try to loosen up that mid pipe shield and give everything a little twist.
Good advise is never too late.
I'll see if I can make this work.....
Let me see what I've got lying around.

Refer back to my post page 3 number 31 on this thread of the pic of 1nc2000's header install that I posted. The post also has a link to where to get the heat shield material.
Pretty well all of us that installed Hurricane's extra clearance header formed the heat shields like this.

Bob, This could have been avoided. Just kept cutting. I could have pried up a nice radius around that tube.No Problem

Bob, give these two pieces look. I have a piece of fiberglass insulated aluminum that I was going to put between the mid pipe shield and the valve cover to keep it off the coil pack.
Then I've got this aluminum I can slip between that hole between the shields.
Or I can use the fiberglass reinforced aluminum on that hole as well.
Thoughts?

I think if you can form and attach the aluminum to become a part of the heat shield that would be the most durable.

Right on. I got some stainless steel zip screws I can use. I'm on it.I think if you can form and attach the aluminum to become a part of the heat shield that would be the most durable.
