TD max pump 17psi

Good info, now that I have confidence in my clutch and belt (xs825)set up, I am thinking of the next step up from my Max Spool 16 tune, and this 290 hp tune with it's cheaper upgrade costs have me itching for a bit more hp!
So which TD muffler is needed to achieve the full 290 hp with the MS 17 tune?

She’s been tough tested again this year with nothing but primary roller wear! This thing sees 120 and over, many many times daily, and the xs825 still looks new. It does take different clutch settings then the JP, but it is tough!

2 weeks in a row, it got tested many times on the County Trails, and passed with flying Blue colors! Ha Ha.

TD 3” Super Quiet. Big flow and no drone quiet.

Hopefully I don’t start something here but I gotta ask. Who’s stock muffler mod flows best and is quietest? I personally have the D&D stock muffler mod with no issues and no drone. A little noisier at idle than stock but once underway it is pretty quiet. Have no idea if it flows better than others out there. And I probably should have started another thread on this....sorry.

I'm sure no one has tested them all on a flow bench to know that answer. What I can tell you is the Hurricane Trail muffler must be one of the best you can get for flow as you can see the offset 2.5" inlet looking thru the 2.5" outlet pipe, so it IMO will flow as much as any that are not a "straight thru" design. As for quiet, only the stock muffler is as quiet as stock obviously, the rest are all louder.

I wear earplugs even on anything over a stock muffler, so this last season I have switched to a 3" VF straight thru muffler anyway.

I'm not certain of this on all version, but the D&D muffler mod I saw still uses either the stock outlet or inlet, I forget which one, so IMO it does not flow a lick better than a stock muffler would. Both inlet, outlet and all passages in-between would need to be 2.5" to flow any better than stock, restrictions on any one of them and it would record no more flow than stock at all. It takes bigger pipes all the way thru to flow more CFM, no getting around that.

And the price diff between a stock fuel pump $389 and the TD larger capacity fuel pump$140 makes it a good deal too.
I have been extremely fortunate with my smm with no tickets, but it is only louder at idle. I really prefer the sound of the stock muffler whereas with the stock muffler you can hear the note of the revs, but with my and other mufflers, it sounds as if they have no revs. Know what I mean?

Again, thanks for that info and I was wondering about that one. I hear that it needs re packing after a couple of seasons?
I see he also has 2 smm, one claims 10hp, and the super smm claims 20hp.

Yep we ride the county at every season’s end, and have been since late 80’s, I would say. Whether playing or working in the county, I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with all the great people and friends that make it their home!

I, or others that I ride with have learned, no sled is bigger then those county trails!
Edit: 80’s not 70’s.

I have over 9k miles on a TD SQ Muffler, never touched it, nothing to re-pack, it never got louder and I have had zero issues. Its quiet and makes good power.

I paid over $700 for it 5 years ago, now they can be had for $400 and change....a real bargain!!

Glad to hear that no re-pack needed after 9K.

Outlet is 3 inch. Inlet, stock.

2017 here, has PowerTrail tune TD Super Quiet 2.5" muffler, the sled has 6000miles on it all tuned, no issues except rollers and one top gear bushing this year...

Thinking of doing MS17 for next year, would I need to go 3" Super Quiet to see max gains? is it much louder than the 2.5"?

Also how much weight do you generally add to the clutch going from PowerTrail to MS17? my DTA1's are close to maxed out?

The gains from a 2.5 to 3 superquiet are mostly gains in decibels. On a stock turbo sled there may be a couple hp to be had with the 3” on the biggest tunes but nothing that will pull you in front of your buddies or make a noticeable seat of the pants difference.
