2013 apex xtx with woodys power up kit clutch work and mbrp pipe
Had the first chance to get out and really whack the throttle today on the multi map. Running stock helix with dalton spring wrapped 70, as I like it, dalton DATy 1 with smallest slug bottomed out, even on max spool 17 only hitting 8800 then settled in 8350 8400. Power trial would run the same . Had heaviest slug in the weight when I got it back from the shop and would hit 8200 with those. I feel like something is not right. Running green dalton primary and xs825 belt. I think the lower rpm on the max and max spool 17 are because I’m only running mbrp trail with 2.5” outlet?? Sled is a stump puller and working good just not getting the 8800 wide open I’m looking for. Heard lots about coil bind on these in secondary what’s the symptoms of that and what do I look for on clutches. All rollers are mint, have CAI, blow off valve and 3 bar. Boost on max 17 settled in about 16.6 Would hit 17.4 when the rpm spikes at 8& then settle in when the rpm drop and settle. Do most of you guys not run the dtay1 full (biggest slug) and still pull rpm ? Thanks for some insight.

Too heavy in the primary! Lighten up the weight in your primary. Those Dtay1’s are too heavy(76g empty) imo. Try em empty and see what you get. You may have to go to Qay 70’s instead. They are only 70 g empty, and add some weight from there. I did this and added 3.1 grams to them for a 73.1 g, and would spin 8900. Once I did that it was all good! But had to buy the new Dalton weights for another few hundred bucks..ouch.
Before that, I had the STM’s in mine loaded to 78g, and I had same issues yours is having; it wouldn’t spin more than 8400 on the 270 Tune. I have the Hurricane SM Tune Bundle.

Your helix is a 35/39 if it is a new sled. That alone with the sticky xs belt will hurt your rpms. First try to lighten the weights. Then I would try a 35 helix.

Have you checked for boost leaks? On my scale the Dtya1s empty are 74 grams and the Quay 70s empty are 72 grams.
You should be able to pull 76-78 grams with that setup. I had the same setup and was within that range for weight.

Well I guess every scale is a little different. Dalton calls them QAY 70, cuz they weigh 70 grams empty according to Them. But who knows??

I agree with Fourload.
Remember when Yamaha came out with that reverse cam, they ran light rivet in outer hole to compensate. Either go to straight 35 or remove 2-3 grams near the end of Dalton weights.

Only have the smallest of the slugs in there bottomed out. TD web site said to go with dtay1 for my set up but it will not pull rpmI agree with Fourload.

I don’t have the Sd 26 code. Had it once b 4 the CAI was on, the clamp on the inlet of the turbo was loose. All are tight.Have you checked for boost leaks? On my scale the Dtya1s empty are 74 grams and the Quay 70s empty are 72 grams.
You should be able to pull 76-78 grams with that setup. I had the same setup and was within that range for weight.

Take the slugs out and try them empty...might be all you need..? If you’re still not where you want/need to be, might have to buy the lighter weights..if you’re sure you’re not loosing boost/or have leaks?

You don't want the weight in the tip if RPM's are falling the faster you go. If anything the opposite.Only have the smallest of the slugs in there bottomed out. TD web site said to go with dtay1 for my set up but it will not pull rpm
I am still of the opinion an empty dtya-1 is a little too heavy for the 35-39

Everyone now using the XS825 this season is finding 4-500 RPM loss. Try it with the stock 8JP and see what happens, bet you will find those RPM's back.
And like has been said, take the weight out of the arms too.

IMO:
The 35/39 works ok on a stock Winder but is not compatible with a tuned Winder. I think a straight 35 helix would get your clutching much closer and give more consistent performance.

Yes you do loose rpm. I had a thread on here about that. Tested back to back 8jp and xs825. Belts ran the same speed just down 5-600 rpmEveryone now using the XS825 this season is finding 4-500 RPM loss. Try it with the stock 8JP and see what happens, bet you will find those RPM's back.

With xs. It’s a better belt that does not slip. I’ll empty the weights and try that and get a straight 35 helix on the way
