I put the Arctic Cat tether kit in my Viper this last weekend and had a few thoughts.

The part of the install requiring removing the very tiny electrical connection pins was a real pain. I had doubts about connection quality after I did it, and realized if I ever do it again I would just cut the wire and solder the connections instead of moving pins around.

Plenty of "normally closed" tethers for sale out there, when I do the other Viper I am using one of those and cutting and soldering the wire. Save me time and money that way.

Of course don't overlook the ready made rollover kits sold by vendors on this site.

4stroke solutions for me. Can't be the kit/customer service and there a site sponsor.

Mine was plug and play with an awesome tether switch. Wasn't the cheapest but works and looks killer!

Even tho I do all kinds of off-trail, I didn't get the rollover kit as if I pull the tether...my engine will stop. Damage happens when the engine runs out of oil. Not steering anyone away from it....that's just what I did.

Ahh, so that is the difference...didn't know that.

If you lose prime you can start and immediatly shut off 3 or 4 times and ours always reprimed. Or do the Apex trick and roll it partially over on its left side and start....but I have not had to do that with the Viper. Once again, nothing against the kits I recommend them but if ya dont have one see above.

It is a pain and has happened at least 3 times to me even with the tether shutting it down. I do find that it helps settle the nerves taking the time to open the cover access the pliers pull the hose and bump the switch. By then I am ready to do it all over again.
