That Sweet Spot

I agree with the bad ride / poor handling. I love the motor and driveability, You guys that love this thing must have been used to the old Yamahas with no rear suspension. Bottom line for me is that a day on this thing is not that enjoyable or what I expected.

The club is growing!

I cant believe this many guys can complain about the Vector ride...I am VERY happy with my Rage ride and handling could there be that much difference...?

Agree. I've never ridden an '05 Rage, but I've owned a few ProAction sleds. The Vector rides nicer than any of them. I've also got it dialed in to where my friend's 600 Pro X has a very hard time hanging with it in the tight trails too. I'm happy to be part of the other "club". My Polaris buddies say the oposite about my sled..."plush". ;)!

Undecided, glad to hear that your adjustments have helped at least a little. You are correct, more transfer will cause later coupling which may help a little more. Keep us posted.

late breaking news............

while removing the rear shock to measure it (shockmeister friend is finding me a different shock) I discovered that the FR outside idler wheel went on a journey of it's own into the winter wonderland! #$%&* :o| #$%&*

back to the dealer it goes tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #$%&* #$%&* #$%&*

unfortunately it isn't making him any happier with his sled though...

I guess stuff like this happens, although in 20+ yrs of riding , this is a first for me.

Dude just playin' with ya.. Looks like the backers are hitting pretty hard..Did it hurt the track???????????????????? Good luck..... MM.

#1 I dont agree with the "rides like a late 80's Indy" comment. Along with my Vector I actually have and regularly ride an old Indy and they do not compare, not even in the same league.

#2 you set up sounds pretty goofy to me. You have all yor springs set on full soft and the rear all the way hard. Doesn't make sense. The Vector is sprung and valved pretty soft and delievers a cushy ride. When you say it rides harsh, are you bottoming out all the time? What conditions do you experiece your discomfort.

#3 I just bought the Vector and it seems to handle better than my '02 Zx 440. It shouldn't, but it is more controlable when cornering on a twisty trial and it is more stable at speed. I like it.

Not trying to bash, justdon't think you are giving the Vector a far shake. I would not be surprised if you are bottoming out everywhere because my Vec came witht eh front springs preloaded about 3/4 from max and it sags about 1/3 of the way into its travel. If you are full soft, you probably sag 1/2 halfway which would only leave you with 4.5" of up travel. Not good.

I know you were messin' with me MM!!!!! No problemo!!!

What do you mean by backers?

I also owned a 2005 vector and was not impressed with the handling or the suspension. I've owned alot of sleds and this one was unfortunatly not the best but now i bought my buddies rage and i'm set and ready to go. I got a chance to ride it last year for about 75 miles and it was a totally a  different sled as far as the ride and handling. I've got a chance to ride my rage this year about 90 miles and i love it. No more track noise (howling) and alot better suspension.

It looked like the backers on your studs were running right over the same place as the boggie wheel hits...I've noticed some of the guys having problems are running studs.. Yours is the first picture that I've seen close up.. I changed my hyfax today and inspected all my wheels.. They look good.. 1,500 miles.. The hyfax wore down on me on my last 100 mile ride.. Verrrrrrrry bad conditions.. I had the new ones... Plus the time today so------- why not.. ;)! ;)! Did you happen to read how I have my vector is set-up?? Front in the middle......middle in the middle....cam on soft... I've tried most of the positions last year.. This set-up reallllllllly works for me.. Plush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck with yours.MM.

I checked my wheels over very carefully. 'cept for the one that went for it's own ride, they all look fine. I don't blame the studs for the unplanned journey...just a junk accessory wheel!
Mines now set at front on high, middle in middle, and cam on middle. Rods at factory.
