The 12K blue plunge

I'm not going to knock down the 1200 doo since it too is a great sled, however, for the few things that seem fixed when switching brands only brings new issues that we find out that we taken for granted from our old rides. Mixing the 1200 doo and the Nytro together would be a perfect ride while leaving each of their shortcomings behind. Having that said, for now, changing colour is just changing to a different set of problems.

I agree, either of the 2 I am considering has weak points and many more strong points to, just trying to make the best decision for $12k, it will have to last me many years before I can convince my wife to spend that kind of money again. Up to now I have gone used and have had 3 different sleds out of about 12 total that the engines went and got that look "you did what? and how much will that be now!" I am sure some of you can relate. My wife calls my wheeling and dealing horsetrading.

It may just come down to which sled feels better when sitting on it. You should try demoing each of the sleds to see which suits your riding style.

I am looking seriously at spring ordering a Nytro XTX, done with the 2 strokes. I appreciate sites like this that you can get information on these sleds. The concern I have is it sounds like a person almost needs to change skis and wear bars, change to bigger suspenion wheels, put in better front end bushings plus more $ for any decent storage and even more for a normal sized gas tank. To me the only real 4 stroke competition to the xtx would be the 4 tec 1200 renegade. What advice do you have for a guy like me trying to decide between the 2 but favoring the XTX?

My advice: Go out and try driving a few Nytros and also a few Doo 1200's. I mean real miles. Borrow from frinds, dealers, whomever. See which you like better, and buy that one. Simple as that. You don't need convincing from any of us -- your the one who gets to pay for it and ride it.

buy a doo and put a nytro motor in it and make the perfect sled. Or do what super sled suggests ride em each and then decide. love my nytro, then again ive never really put any real miles on a ski doo ever so i cant compare

Just Ride it!!!

I have read how the skis suck, the HI Fax wear fast, yadda yadda yadda.

Read the sticky on suspension setup. I put the limiter down to the 2nd hole, front shocks adjusted 6 notches up and voila, rides and handles great but you might like it differently.

Oh yeah, the clutch rattles, it's normal.

Overheating, didn't expect that from the Nytro, especially a sled with a radiator? Pretty embarassing riding a brand new sled on hardpack with the hood removed and tucked under my arm. $400 later and I installed the MTX exchanger and extra vents which solved my problem.

Sorry... I burst out laughing when I read hood the tucked under my arm blast. I use scratchers and a tunnel block off which seemed to completley eliminate my temp light coming on....

Oh ya.... the only major gripe I have about my Nytro is the puny gas tank. My wife has an easy 50 miles more range then me...seems like I am always looking for gas.
