Our third stripped RX1 just joined our riding group tonight. His 03 sled had mpi arms, antiratchets and a finger track when bought it. We installed a holz rear, lite battery&relocate, rider forward, hartman extension, undertunnel exhaust, rubbermaid airbox, and got rid of the pod. He still nees a belly pan protector. We used his Boss seat off his skidoo 800. We now realize my kids seat was for a rev chassis. Both seem to fit ok. Total time for the rework was 28hrs, and took less than a week. Two skidoo diehards in our group are searching for cheap 03mtns's for summer projects. It's no longer special to be "blue" around here.

Rubbermaid air box could you post some pictures and why did you do this?

Saves 4lbs, costs$4, takes 40 minutes to make, no rejetting (even for single pipe), evacuates the crankcase, doesn't ice up, and always get lots of laughs! Three installed now, over 5k miles on'em and work flawlessly.....and, No, I don't work for rubbermaid.

Right on never seen that one yet.
Did you just use the same boots from the stock air box to put in this new air box?

Use stock boots. Stock boots pull right out. Cut big holes with an adjustable hole saw, cut little one for breather with a 7/8 flat drill bit. Intake boot gets cut off a little, inside. Had it fall off once in the bumps, so we bungie it now. Easy side access, even! Last two boxes we bought at Walmart. Wish they came in a cool color, but it's useful to see what's going on inside. I don't think it will fit with a stock height battery, though.

Kachess I love the hood, where does the tach sit? Did you make a different mount? Any better pics, I think the headlight/windshields rather useless and would like to remove most of it.
which seat work's better or is easier to install a rev or zx seat?

I along with doo_man would also like more info and pictures on the hood setup. Where are you getting the rider forward and how hard is it to put on? Can you send pictures of how you are doing the tach and such? Thanks!

I'll be curious to hear how you think the finger track on the new RX-1 Lite works compared to the paddles tracks on the other two.

I detailed how I move the steering column forward on this thread:
http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... ng+forward
I think it has photos on how I eventually handled the gauges. The only thing I would add is that you have to add 2inches of height to the steering post for the steering to clear the gauge. I had a 2inch taller post already so it wasn't an issue. I inserted a 3/4 galv. rod into the cut steering post and welded it, on the two I've done with stock steering posts. Gauge position works perfect. They are protected and highly visible. Takes about 4 hrs to do. It's a good time to make the post the height you like, and install new alum bars. Total cost of mod is cost of bars and a fog light. I'll get on our other computer and post some more recent photos. Will see how the finger track performs this weekend.

Here's what we do instead of the pod. We cut the stock windshield down to the shape shown, and fasten it with the three plastic screws and rubber nut dealies that attach the stock windshield. The foglight is from Shucks and is wired into the high beam wires. The gauge is mounted in a piece of aluminum (from the ugly stock tunnel extension) mounted into the old steering hole. Trace the hole, add 4 ears at the diagonals, trace gage cutouts from the stock dash (just barely fit in the circle, but do), attach to tank shroud with little sheet metal screws, mount gauge using stock screws and grommets. Wires to gauges on hood fold back and reach the gauge fine. You just have to splice some wires to run forward for the fog light.

The rev seat probably fits a little better because it's shorter. The RX tunnel has a kick, the skidoo does not, so the rev seat being shorter bridges the kick better with less gap. Both fit the same at the front. Either seat isn't too bad.
