Hi all,
It's getting closer to winder time! I'm going with a 1" track this winter. I'd like to keep costs down and would like to reuse the studs I ran on my 1.25 ripsaw. I ran 1.575 Megabites. What are your thoughts on running them on a 1"?
Ben keeps coming out with more cool stuff lol so I'd like to keep some cash for the new dash flash.
Let me know what you think.

1.575 is a little long for trail riding, You will be a tick over 3/4 penetration. If you watch how you ride it is doable. I think you might need better/taller tunnel protectors with that length stud on a 1 inch track.
If you are racing, 1.575 in that 1 inch track is the magic ticket, lol.

How many miles a year do you average? Big Phil has a good point with the length of your studs, that much penetration with alot of miles equals bent/broken/ pulled through studs with mucho stress on the track. If it's minimal mileage with considerable lake time, imo you're golden with those 1.575'sAnymore input on this guys?

You're good to go with you're old studs then. If you're into drag/grudge racing and want a little more holeshot advantage, take a grinder to the front face of those megabites to flatten the front more to act as a "poor man's" chisel. It works, but to much grinding and you'll eventually start loosing the carbide tips. Just something to think aboutYes the majority of my riding this winter will be lake time.

1.630's are no problem with tunnel protection add ons like stms...

I agree, and is why I asked his intended (majority) usage. Big miles on long studs usually doesn't end well, unless you only ride in big snow country.Lots of wear on longer studs IMO.....Even my GDs with only 1450 miles, at 1.450 took alot of wear in one season.

big studs and pointed studs are a wear item....just part of the cost of going fast...ask anyone that runs triggers...lake racers or stingers...as far as most who run them are concerned...they wouldn't stop just because you have yearly maintenance...some wear better than others...some bite better than others..the only thing I wouldn't put up with is a pull through

Had a 1 " track on my Apex , i will never buy put a 1 " track on again.... the conditions have to be really hard pack or ice to be worth while . If u are on any new or heavy wet snow it feels like rear end just floats and spins . Yamaha went backwards with the srx .

It’s just how we’ve/the sport have progressed also...my brand new 2000 Thundercat came with .85 inch track stock, and I studded it with 192 one inch gold diggers, and never had any issues with it. It hooked like a mofo, and was s rocket!!
Jump up 6 years, and my new 2006 Mach Z X came with a one inch track stock. Studded that with 192 studs, and no issues at all either.
My Apex came with a 1.25 rip saw, and to be honest I couldn’t tell the difference once studded from the one inch. My Winder has 1.25 inch too, and with all that being said...I don’t think I’d go back to a one inch track either now.
I think if you’re not studding...then the difference between the 1 and the 1.25 would be huge. But once studded, the difference becomes much less apparent imo.
