3-5 MPH>>>How could this be?? The Cat is so much heavier? Surely the lighter fun factor sled must be faster?
I thought Ski Doo had a Sidewinder and were engineering the Mach Z based on this "test mule" to win ?
O here is the post!
The Pre production Mach's were running 192 hp on the dyno, you can bet your azz the full production Mach will be tuned to over 200 plus hp better clutched and fined tuned suspension setup, I would lay money that Doo has a newer SRX/ Thunder Cat that they are testing the full production Mach against, Doo didn't reintroduce the new Mach Z to be in second place and bitch slapped by a stock winder, I am a true blue and would love to eat crow on this one but better to be cautious then smack talking about a easy win for the Yamaha winder when the two line up.

Obviously they wanted stock vs stock in the SNOW.
Obviously without studs they couldn't do a drag race.
Only TOP SPEED freaks run this much power without studs.
No windshield at all on that doo. Who owns that? A 16 year old?
There is NO doubt that as the conditions get harder, the 998 will have even more top end than the 900R.
Could be 8-12mph

It is almost irresponsible to run 200HP sleds without some studs. Back when my 1100 turbo was brand new, I ran it bone stock without studs. I think was about 180hp out of the box. It was dangerous on icy trails and had almost no traction every time I wacked the throttle. It spun like it was a trail polisher. LOL
I do understand their point on the video. Perhaps they should have packed it down for 30 minutes before they did the runs. I noticed the sleds got faster as the test track got packed down.

The short answer is that there is no replacement for displacement. Given the same boost pressure, the bigger motor is going to make more HP. Weight is not really a factor in top speed, only at launch.

Weight obviously did not matter as the lester boys even said in a drag race the TCAT jumped ahead every time. So why not show that on video? It would have been bus lengths in a 1000ft. They just don't want to piss off DOO.The short answer is that there is no replacement for displacement. Given the same boost pressure, the bigger motor is going to make more HP. Its the same with every magazine or trade publication or website these days. When there is integrity in the publishing side the reader is often left to read between the lines for the real opinion, most often though there is just too much influence from the advertiser for them to risk making anyone mad.

Nope, Dan wouldn't say that over here, but he would on Dootalk. Think....it's a true blue guy on here that bashes the winder/T-cat on almost every thread. Although I haven't seen him around much lately only about 20% of the threads instead of the usual 80%.Who RockerDan!!!

I bet the reason that Mack is so slow is because it's only revving 7850 instead of 7950

A few more talking pointsI bet the reason that Mack is so slow is because it's only revving 7850 instead of 7950
1 99cc less - true.
2 Spins 1000rpm less - true.
3 Put a windshield on, that'll fix the top speed - what?
Absolutely no mention of
1 Doo runs 6-7 lbs more boost stock.
2 What does a winder have with the same amount of boost as the mack - 260hp.
I think what it comes down to is the yellow crowd is cranky that they haven't had the top all-around trail sled with the most jam for years and years now. Even more frustrating is the ecu hasn't been cracked yet and the top speed isn't much more than a strong running 600

The yellow crowd has been cranky ever since 1993 when the Tcats started towed the Mach's off the lake.
