Ive got an 08 mtx and I picked up a used timbersled rear suspension kit. Will it work with the stock rear brackets?
I know the aftermarket ones are alot lighter but I'm 6'5" and about 300 # geared up so I really don't care about weight and i'd like to keep the $150 if possible.
Is it a width issue or does it affect the suspension geometry?
Is searched all over this site and haven't found anything. I have seen pictures of the skid on the stock brackets in pictures and PM'ed people but haven't gotten any responses.
Thanks in advance!

Hey Grizz as far as i know you can not use the stock rear drop brackets because of the width of the rear suspension arm. I believe some people have made their own drop brackets but the stock ones are just too narrow. I dont think Allen's brackets change the geometery at all but i could be wrong. Good luck
Ps. Being 300 lbs you might also want to have the rear shock re-valved if it has not aready been done Allen recommends that people that are pushing >250 are at the very limit of the fox air shock with stock valving. They become springy if i can use a technical term here =)

You have to change the brackets. A few have modified the stock ones to work. I do not know what it takes. For me, I opted to get the ones from CR as some of the guys up here have bent tunnels using ones from some one else. The ones from CR are beefy and look cool too.

No problems using the stock brackets. You just have to shorten the inside axle in the tsled. No need to modify the arm.

Same here i used stock brackets, just cut ts bar to match stock skid and youre rollin
My only concern would be the mounting point locations. If I remember correctly the stock holes are 31.5" apart, and the Mtn Tamer is supposed to be 31.875". I know it doesn’t seem like a lot, but it might mess something up. Just something to think about. If you would like a set of Timber brackets, I have a set I took of my sled that I would part with.
