Two days ago, I accidentally tipped my sled over on its right side on a very slight incline (track facing uphill); the sled was running but stalled before I could turn off with key. I could not flip it back up on my own, and so it lay on its side for a few mins until my buddy arrived and helped me. Once flipped right I noticed a small bit of oil or oily fluid (just some drips) dripping from the bottom edge of the right side panel, so i pulled the panel and the inner surface of the panel did have a bit of oil. The total amount of fluid would have been about 1/2 tbsp I would guess, maybe not even that much. Everything looked intact and I could not determine where the oil might have come from - nothing obvious; oil cap / dip stick was secure and clean. We let it sit a couple of minutes right side up before trying to start it. The when I tried it started and ran for about 10 to 15 seconds and stalled with oil light still on; then I started it again and gave a little throttle (i am imagining to get oil pumping around clear of any air pockets), the oil light went out as usual and it continued to run fine for the rest of the run. I ran it around another few hours, stopping and starting engine a number of times and seemingly no problems, nor signs of any more oil. It seems to start ok now in trailer and everything seems fine but I have not yet been out for another run since. I took panel off again today and wiped up the little bit of oil remaining but no further signs of oil anywhere. I ran it for a while to warm up, turned it off let is cool for a minute or so and checked the engine oil level - seems fine.
Any idea where this oil may have come from?
I am thinking to pull the hood and have a closer look.
Any suggestions on anything else I should look at or check.

It’s normal some got in your air box. No biggie. If anything remove breather box and clean with dish soap and water. My advice just put some cardboard under sled in heated shop and let it drip a day or two. It’s time to ride.

I did it today! Driving up the ramp into my truck(doh). Does it loose enough to have a real effect on the oil level? I primed the pump, which I learned on this forum!.. but am I safe to ride and not worry about the level? It’s normal some got in your air box. No biggie. Did it mess up your panels or handlebars? Did that to mine last weekend in front of a bunch of cars to top it off!

I think the sled is okay, bent the hand guard mount a bit. But it landed on my gas auger... I'll probably just bring a small jug of oil in the truck just in case. I'm going icefishing this weekend and won't put more than a couple of km on it.

Four Stroke Solutions roll-over valve with tether..... I'm just sayin..... engine stalled due to no oil pressure, restart shutdown was due to oil priming issue. no oil pressure is not a good thing, even for a few moments. roll-over valve stops all the oil loss and the ensuing mess as well....

Only if tether is pulled
every time I've rolled my sled I have ended up far enough away to pop the tether and I never run the sled without the tether hooked to me. it is also easy to sweep your arm across the tether to pop it off. Bill's rov also has a re-prime button that helps the restart if oil pressure was lost.
can you tell I like the the rov..... I've had the valve on two sleds and know that it works when used....

So, after I tipped mine, I pulled the vent hose and primed the pump. It worked like a charm and I was able to drive it with no issues. To be sure, I checked the oil and it was low. It ended up losing 600ml. That's a lot! Like I said, the oil light wasn't on so I'd be interested in knowing how low you can go before the light comes on.
It’s dry sump so light won’t come on and damage won’t happen till it sucks air.So, after I tipped mine, I pulled the vent hose and primed the pump. the oil light coming on is an indicator of no oil pressure, not low volume in the oil tank.
