The bottom line is that they have over price them selfs an people are not buying just look at the number my group of 20 plus riders we do not ride in ontario anymore we go to the us. The ofsc has always had there head in the sand. Are local club use to have 800 plus permit holder now 30 so figure it out would it be better to sell 800 @ 100.00 then 30 @ 200.00 then take Thunder Bay ontario they sold 3500-3700 permits now way below 100 do the numbers it is all about price an what people are willing to pay .....
District 16 is now closed. Thunder Bay was always a tuff town to deal with and small towns sold more permits then Thunder bay with well over 100,000 population. Not good.

really... are you the expert? read what has been said, its no tougher than other towns just one problem there are more trails in better shape than the OFSC trails, who pissed off some of the property owners and they halted them from crossing there land a few years back. It has not been looked after for years due to members not buying permits because the money never stayed there. i used to put my time in until the politics far out weighed the enjoyment.
i am a firm believer and would like to see the OFSC vanish from the north, we could put our own system in place with the many people that would come back, put permits back to a normal price and maybe draw some riders to the area to help all parts of business.
i have so much more to say but am sick of this topic.... sure the group of 30 i ride with would love to ride groomed trails in our area again but ppl have had enough and just want to move on just like we should from this topic as we just keep repeating ourselves.

ride on its what we love

District 17 is in trouble as well. Biggest problem is the OFSC clubs are so different in the South. The north has no impact at the AGM! The southern clubs will decide and the North will continue to close up shop. The OFSC trails are almost done in the north, soon we will see if the north can build its own trail system. Of course without the OFSC's insurance and groomers.

Heck we have already done the what belongs to us what belongs to the OFSC thing. Scary close to going under! Maybe the clubs in the south will bail us out!

Bought my 2 permits yesterday at the Port Perry Snowmobile Club open House.

I spent $340.00 bucks on one regular Permit and one Classic Permit, and that is still a bargain to me! ;)!

i'm buying 2 full passes in the coming weeks,i also think its a bargain for what you get,i can ride up to 7000 km in a season, that's 33 cent a km,imagine how much it costs to groom 1 km and i'm sure its more than 33 cents

Sounds like district 13 is in trouble as well and am hearing things about some of the other northern districts.

The OFSC is going to have to decide if they are for all of Ontario. The cross Ontario dream coridor is now dead. There is no connection to Manitoba anymore and hasn't been for some time other then a trailer service to get you around ThunderBay.

With 16 closed there is a huge hole in the system. The ThunderBay trailer service is not an option anymore. If 13 fails the hole opens even wider. The OFSC needs to get the whole pass on the Val tag and do it quick! Once a district closes its very hard to open it again. Leave it closed for a few years and its as if it was never open in the first place.

I have met many riders crossing from Manitoba heading to eastern Ontario and some on to Quebec. I had the honor of riding with the guy who crossed all of Canada and even up into Alaska and back. I once met a group that was traveling from Alberta to Valcourt Quebec where thier sleds where built. I myself have always wanted to do a Cross Ontario Loop of 5,000 miles give or take.

The Cross Ontario trail has a history and purpose. But 210 dollar permit prices are one of the things that have killed it.

I have said what I have thought about the Price many times throughout this post so there is no need to continue, but I will add that I think that people who don't purchase a permit are using the Permits price as type of a Scapegoat to no longer purchase one. (JMO)

Your my hero Irv , keep up the good work and soon enough the whole trail system will be closed , like I said before if your not part of the solution your part of the problem .

If I didn't know any better TB, I'd think you were trying to deter people from buying a permit? What part of the solution are you?

Yes I am trying to deter rider from constantly sucking it up. I believe someone asked you when is enough for you,as for my part of the solution , Irv all you have to do is read what I have suggested or are you not capable of doing that.

It would cost me $1155 for a family season pass at the local ski hill. This doesn't include the gas to get there, food, equipment, etc.

Bought my sled passes already, just waiting to stick them on the three sleds.
