I'm sure the regional will work for some people , but not for all , thats what this should be about all for one and one for all so forget about you for a minute and think about what is good for all.thunderbolt said:pat the rat said:i am in the new liskeard area,to me,it appeals, cuz it goes to marten river, then all the way up to hearst, cochrane and all the best riding areas,we mostly ride north of nl,so it will be a saving for me having 2 sleds,if i decide to ride southbound,i will purchase a full pass, but true that the guys that live on borders will be forced to make a decision on where to buy

i forget about myself every year for the past 20 years, when i spend numerous hours doing signage, cutting branches, fixing groomers, trail patrol, install bridges, attend meetings and you are gonna tell me to stop thinking about myself, all i do for the sport is for others, all for $0,so i will welcome any change that will save me dollars, there is no system on earth that will please everybody, its always been like that,if they go with the val tag, another breed of snowmobilers will complain

I can't agree more , however not so sure about the land owner thing , my grandfather had about 600 acres on the vermont border in Quebec and never once do I recall him holding the snowmobile club hostage for a government tax break .Murse said:This is the only time I will ever say this, I heard back in the day Quebec land owners and I mean province wide told the Quebec provincial government that if they did not receive a tax break for letting riders use their land they will shut down everything. Since Government has taken over there are more jobs more people coming from all over the world to ride their world class trails. Everyone is happy, land owners get break on taxes, people are getting jobs ( groomers, patrol officers, etc etc ) Clubs are getting money from permits and I'm sure there is no shortage of permit sales and money coming from tourism with hotels, restaurants and sled rentals. Even gas stations I'm sure benefit highly in the winter season from this. Now this argument has been presented for years now I'm sure but why doesn't Ontario follow suit with this? We could all benefit, they could make a ton of money and create more jobs in this crappy economy. Ontario tourism would jump big time and snowmobiling would be a thriving sport in both provinces and I'm sure more people would ride both provinces. Ontario has so much to offer and we are shutting down trails because no one is doing anything about it, seems that way anyway. Any thoughts or additional information on this anyone?
Now yes as I've said in the past is ontario exclusive? Why wouldn't a progrm like what they do in Quebec work

Yep I agree Val tag only no passes. Takes the you right out of the equation! I have three sleds only put a pass on one not going to spend 630 bucks for all three. Val tag system I get ride all three on the trails for say 330 bucks. Much better. OFSC and clubs gains 120 bucks from me alone.

Looks like it's time to give this thread a jump start. I read on another forum that the Ontario Trail Pass will be $180 for 2013/2014 season if you buy before November 1st online only and the OFSC approved the Framework For Change at the annual AGM. I didn't read much further than that and don't know what all the changes are but I'm sure someone can fill in the blanks.

I will not buy any OFSC permits again this year. It is still cheaper to ride else where.

Its a step in the right direction , but matching it with the val. tag would have certainly got more of the non compliant riders on side . More work still needs to be done and yes the price is still to high

Wasn't the early permit $210 last year?

PAY ATTENTION TO THE DATES. Edit: Approved at AGM 2013, pending approval from MTO - we will know shortly
The following is available On-Line only via the OFSC website:
Seasonal - $180 if purchased on or before Nov 1st 2013
The following will be available at retail outlets, via phone order, mail in order and online for purchase...
Seasonal:
$210 - if purchased between Nov 2nd and Dec 1st
$260 -(edit): if purchased December 2nd or onward. (If purchased AFTER March 10th 2014, a full season 2015 will be included for this price and will be shipped to the purchaser when the 2015's become available - the 2014 portions will be available to Local Print so access is immediate)
Classic (for snowmobiles 15 yrs or older):
$140 if purchased on or before Dec 1st
$170 - if purchased after Dec 1st
Visitor:
3 Day permit - $75 (Local Printing Option available)
7 Day permit - $140 (Local Printing Option available
I dont think $180 is that bad,for what you get,i will be buying both my passes online, saving me $40,there's a admin fee of $7 on top of the $180 so roughly $187 something,

Ya right... 100.00 is what it should be... Especially in my area. Sault Ste. Marie. They groom once a week. Thats it. The trails are done before the weekend. They groom on Mondays or Tuesday. Five years ago, they used to groom every second day. From what I am hearing, the local club may fold this year. I would pay for a regional pass of say 70.00 bucks a year. I dont ride that far up North and if did, then I would buy the full year pass. Why raise the price of the Classics?
To me it does not matter as I live on a border town and will just ride in Michigan at 45.00 for the year and way better trails... OFSC needs to get the heads out of the sand. People cannot pay for these rediculous prices for sledding, when other areas are cheaper. You are not going to get any American friends to come back to Canada to ride with prices like that.

Funny that we can make $250-$300 monthly payments on a new sled for 3 years and we cant afford a $180 season trail pass
