I used this, might be overkill but it works good. Used a sharp utility knife to clean up the melted plastic on the edges.

use masking tape to mark off exactly where you want to cut. heat up a utility knife and it will cut like butter along where you have market out. will leave a nice finish also.
heat up the black trim...pull back.....mask your cut like mentioned...I also used the cut off wheel...but the hot razor knife Im sure would work also...I then used olding adhesive and reapplied the trimlllook closely at the angle as it matches the angle of the hood and looks almost factory

I used a good pair of right and left tin snips and it worked minty! No heat required just don't close the snips on your cut

All the windows Ive trimmed over the yrs were cut with my snips i use for coil stock.
