Track ratcheting with extroverts, I just can't figure it out

Is the track tightened the same on each side and running square something is amiss here. ONe extrovert the wrong one or maybe it is smaller than the other one? I am not sure if one can put these on backwards or not if you can check that also.

Yes, the track is tightened evenly. The extroverts are the same.

The track is on backward though. It's a 151" finger track that I bought used from Tracks USA. The nubs were bent over a little so I put it on the opposite way to bend them back straight. It has worked well the fingers are straight now. I have turned tracks around for years without problems. Could it be something that simple?

Are the timing marks lined up correctly on the extroverts? I have never seen what happens when they are not lined up, but there must be a reason they tell you to line them up.

You said you stiffend the the rear shock..... If it is suspension related that should help as it will reduce transfer.

Ray, yup the timing marks are lined up. I guess it doesn't really matter anymore.

I give up. M7 skid is on the way.

Now if it ratchets with the M7 skid I will really be pissed!

Thanks for the idea.

Im going to jump into this conversation... Because I purchase a 03 rx-1 last week and got a couple hundred miles on it. I started chucking my track clips and it was ratcheting bad. It has extraverts and running mt. straps as well. Its a 136x1.25 track w/studs.

I am digging into it, because it is doing the same thing, when the suspension extends all the way out it ratchets.

I am now wondering if a new track is going to fix my problem??

I will tear mine apart this week and look everything over and see what I can see!

Familyman, the best way I can explain it is, misery enjoys company.

I have tried to explain it to the folks on here for quite some time and I get the impression sometimes they think I must be nuts or missing something.

I have triple checked everything and all is well. Perhaps when I take the skid out to put in the M7 skid I will find the problem?

It's sure not my chain. Jonny Rocket was with me and he heard it too and is certain it's the track ratcheting as well.

Yes, it has something to do with the suspension extending all the way out.
It doesn't do it unless the suspension extended. I womder if reinstalling the transfer rods which would couple the rear suspension again would work. I never ratcheted this much with the stock drivers and transfer rods.

Good luck

I am getting a new track, also installing rev. So I know I will have a new set of gears and track. My extrverts are chewed up pretty bad. I might replace those as well.

I am going to try tightening up my front straps to keep the front from dropping so far? I really think this might help??

We sould just..... :drink: HA!

I agree with the :drink:

I finally had to say "uncle".

Winter is too short to not be able to "pinner" without having to let off.

You mentioning it only happens when the front of the suspension drops all the way down is so true. Perhaps your tightening of the limiter straps may help. Mine have 7/8" showing beyond the flat black metal plate and still does it so maybe 1 or 1 1/4" may be a good place to start?

Mine are all the way out...about 7/8" left. The sled rides a moster wheelie tho

I think that might be a good place to start. Sounds like both of us were getting it after the suspension drops all the way.

Good luck!

Mark another one down for track ratchet with extros. Only difference is I am running a 162 fully clipped with 220+ HP.

I think my problem is; I didn't stay ahead of the track stretching since it is a new track with about 300 miles on it now. My wahl bros. extros are obviously worn from the clips riding up and over the leading edge of the teeth. The first two days of riding I had no problem then on the third day it started.

I tightened the track three full rounds the day it started. The next day it would slip once and then catch. I am going to go another half round and see what my track has for sag. Hopefully that will stop the problem.

I don't feel so alone anymore! :exc:

I remember going 4 full turns to get mine to stop for good and then my track was banjo tight. What's the sense of running extroverts if you have to have the track that tight?

Could it have something to do with the MPI transfer rod elimination kit? Mine seems to have started about the time I removed my contol rods. Hum?

I don't know about the MPI kit being the problem in my case. I have modded my skid to emulate a Holz coil over. My problem didn't surface until the 3rd day of riding and got worse as the day progressed. Therefore; I'm hoping mine was due to the new track stretching.
